Re: Spyderchef size??
Great comparison - I really wish the Spyderco spydiechef was sized like the original custom. Would definitely make the pinch grip more viable when working on a cutting board.

Re: Ouroboros Pass-Around
Just wanted to give my fellow passaround-ers an update: I received the knife safely on Saturday, and I'll be updating the thread over the coming week with some pictures and more in-depth thoughts.
First impressions, right out of the box: "how does this wide-looking blade fold up so slim?"

Re: Centofante Sprint?
Shameless bump for those of us with our fingers still crossed for a Centofante sprint run! Even among the outstanding 2017 lineup, the Centofante 3 stands out to me as a venerable work of knife design and a true classic.

Re: D'Allara 3 feedback
I had a chance to handle the D'Allara 3 at SHOT this year. I have not handled the original models. - I loved how slim the overall design was. Knives with the ball bearing lock tend to be wide when closed, due to the space required for the lock, so it was nice that the handle and blade were both rela...

Re: Carbon Fiber - Rough Edges
Carbon fiber is extremely stiff and can definitely chip out at the edges in manufacturing. I too have smoothed CF scales and have yet to see one come from the factory truly flawless as with G10 (much easier to machine).

Paramilitary 2 CQI?
The new Para 3 has a shouldered stop pin. The Military moved to a shouldered stop pin design this year, too. I can't help but wonder if the Paramilitary 2 might be next? Clearly there's an advantage in simplifying a three-piece design (threaded stop pin + fastener on either side) to a single solid p...

Re: Spydiechef-am I the only one??
Got a chance to handle a prototype - like many I too was struck that it would work better in the kitchen if it was larger, especially because it just begs to be held in a choked-up pinch grip like a chef's knife. Not a lot of need to choke up on a blade this small! Still, the design is very compelli...

Re: Native 5 - the perfect pocket knife?
Not that I don't think it's a great value and a great design, but the ergonomics of the Native 5 have never worked for me. Choil too big, handle too small. Glad you're enjoying it, though!

Re: Centofante Sprint?
I've said as much before, but the Centofante 3 is one of Spyderco's all-time best and most underrated designs. Neutral ergonomics, THIN blade with a stylish and effective hollow grind - it's got enough style to be a gentleman's folder but is plain enough to suit most any task. I think a sprint run o...

Re: Pro sharpening needed
If you decide you want to hire a professional sharpener feel free to PM me - I sharpen knives for local chefs and a few collectors and I'd be happy to give you a quote or simply provide a little help and guidance. Getting a working edge yourself is easily learned but getting a consistent mirrored be...

No doubt we'll have an official answer soon - every picture I've seen so far including the latest one from BBS is just a rendering. Fingers crossed for diamond-pattern!abbazaba wrote:Me too

Re: Spyderco C81GPGY2 Paramilitary 2 CRU-WEAR
Seems like there's some confusion as to what the scales will actually be. Personally i'm hoping for the diamond pattern G10, I think it's much more unique.

Re: Would you buy a G10 Centofante 3 or 4 sprint?
A Centofante or Vesuvius sprint in G10 (with nested liners, in the best of all possible worlds) would probably unseat the Delica as my all-time EDC favorite.

Re: Buy, sell, trade
/r/Knife_Swap is my go-to. Very well moderated community; I've never had an issue there. BF is okay but you need a paid membership to sell and is generally a little shadier in my experience since they don't have timestamps or pricing/payment guidelines. Reddit has a unique flow, as far as discussion...

I agree with OP, I owned an Endura and sold it for exactly the ergonomic flaws he describes.

Re: Pacific Salt with NSN
The NSN is for the plain edge version only, probably for the reason that it's easier to maintain "in the field."
