Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Not my best work but I reprofiled my Chap with a Venev 150 grit (100/80 micron) stone and stropped with 1 micron CBN on bass wood. It shaves but won't tree top arm hair. Glides through cardboard like it's not there though. :D https://i.imgur.com/ePbJwWI.jpg Very nice edge. Clean looking bevel. It's...

Anyone know where I can order another PE? Out of stock or yet to be stocked everywhere I looked.

8. Consider removing the index choil, Hey, Viv. While I don't agree with some of your points, on this one, we are in total agreement. On the XL, there is no reason for the forward choil. It makes no sense at all. Dump it. Another suggestion is move the clip mounting points more toward the end, and ...

Is your edge still at the factory angle or have you tried reprofiling it?

Re: Manix 3
Honestly...when have you EVER used a knife and cut something from tip to ricasso/choil and weren't able to cut whatever it was you were cutting?? Or get to the ricasso/choil and thought "this knife would have been so much better with 4 more mm of edge" I'm willing to bet NEVER. Cutting ap...

Re: Manix 3
Frankly, I would like to see that your suggestions don't materialize. It is frustrating to have such great knives constantly threatened by people who treat them as jewelry. Not sure if you're aware of who you're talking to, lol. I'm someone that recently bought a C95 green sprint in NIB condition. ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Lets rename this thread "vivi's sharpening journal" Took two knives to my sander today. Edged another beater chef knife for work, so if I don't feel like sharpening one after a long day I can switch to the other. https://i.postimg.cc/KzsBhbtr/20201022-141241-HDR.jpg Also breathe...

Re: Is my Para 3 Maxamet legit? (Photos)
there's no more reason to be discouraged with your knife than there is being discouraged after buying a new car and 5 months later discovering it needs gas :) I would not use the kitchen knife sharpener. Those are designed for softer steels common in kitchen knives. There is a lot of sharpening info...

Re: Manix 3
I'd have no issues with the Manix 3 keeping the choil. I do use it from time to time, like today when I did some whittling with my C95. It's just an idea I had that I thought might give it a better blade to handle ratio. I'm fine with the current XL clip placement, but I think mounting it a little h...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Finally reprofiled my M4 Manix XL. Ground a fresh bevel on my 200 grit stone shooting for about 10dps, then ground a 15dps microbevel at 300 grit. Stropped three times per side with 7 micron diamond paste. Took a nice edge. https://i.postimg.cc/MTrSmrM2/20201022-001721-HDR.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/w...

Re: Manix 3
Thank you for making this thread vivi. I've been struggling with making a thread for an updated Manix for months now, but I was apprehensive that I still do not have enough forum cred to garner attention and maybe even offend people who are already content with the current Manixes. I love the Manix...

Manix 3
I've been thinking about the Manix series a lot the past few weeks. My M4 XL and foliage green C95 have been dominating my pockets this month, aside from carrying Salts to work. https://i.postimg.cc/XqTgfzGq/20201021-164909-HDR.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/YSXsxXS0/20200720-174923-HDR.jpg I've been thin...

Used my C95 to baton some fatwood and spark a ferro rod to start a fire. Then carved some marshmallow roasting sticks. https://i.postimg.cc/j2Kgwj92/20201021-182639-HDR.jpg I picked up the Mario 3D All Stars so I could play through them all with my nephew. Re: Power Lock
C95 Manix. I missed out on that one and the pic Vivi posted recently of the green sprint looks great. With some of the modern CQI improvements to the platform and a power lock tossed in I think that would make for an amazing piece. SPY27 for the steel. Cobalt blue scales. I like the way you think :D

Sounds like it needs sharpened. Cardboard dulls things pretty fast, even Maxamet.

Not tired of the Manix 2 LW platform yet Oh yeah? Well me and my C95 did some yard work, beat that with your castles and mountains :p https://i.postimg.cc/XqTgfzGq/20201021-164909-HDR.jpg Super jealous of the history in your area. Re: Power Lock
I think a scaled down Szabo Folder could be an interesting candidate as well. The lock should be strong enough for the design and it would be a less complicated solution for implementing the self-close.

Re: Power Lock
If we're doing a mini Tatanka / Tatanka 2.0, can it be lighter? That was the main thing that kept me from buying one when I handled it. Love the ergonomics, size, blade shape, and the lock was neat, but 9+oz is a lot to pocket. With a reduced frame size and possibly a taller flat grind I could see s...

https://i.postimg.cc/02CxBvzt/20201011-234659-HDR.jpg D shaped pivot hole Vivi, is that all that holds the pivot pin from spinning? Does the pivot pin have a Torx socket like the pivot pin cap screw? Yep, seems its just the D shape of the pivot holes in the G10 that keeps it stable. Both sides of t...
