A Southfork is hurtling towards me as I type.

The M4 Military with the SquareHead is too good a deal to pass up, a Temp 2 is beckoning me and beloved wife gave up her job to look after her ill parents ...

Re: Has the love affair with ZDP-189 ended?

So does it perform "better" left coarse, or run it til it's mirror polished? I've heard that since it's fine grained, it's ok to polish, but it'll chip when too thin? I don't polish anything and I've never used diamonds on ZDP. I have no reason to doubt the members who suggest ...

Re: Funny Aqua Salt story

Cool little adventure by the sound Vivi and I'm glad it turned out OK. :) I always forget something when I go away but this one cracked me up ... About a month ago I was going for a fish and the deal was I'd meet my son in law at this spot. We were going to walk a bay flicking soft plastics. Anyhow ...

Re: Why does CPM S90V get such high marks?

I kind of get what you're saying David but it's not that bad. :) It frustrated me a little when my Sprig (the only S90V I have till I buy a Southfork) came blunt and it wanted to glaze fresh lapped SiC stones in setting a bevel. I re lapped them and persevered. I can't remember for sure and I think ...

Re: Hapstone Sharpening System

Which Shapton stone should I buy as a high grit polish/finish stone to compliment this? I s’pose that depends on your own preferences more than anything else but you’ll likely find the SiC stones you’ve ordered will be all you need to sharpen just about any knife. With a light touch and a little pr...

Re: Hapstone Sharpening System

Welcome to the forum Bostonbull! :) After much deliberation I opted for the Hapstone over the Edge Pro. What appealed to me most was the fact it will hold any stone within reason plus it’s a robust system made of steel and fair to say I have no regrets. I bought mine about a year ago direct from Hap...

what's the deal with zip tying a hexnut onto a knife or adding a Phillips head screw to a spydie hole? A hex nut cable tied to the Spyder hole makes for a knife which is much more aesthetically pleasing. A bolt or in this case a Philips Head Screw bolted through the Spyder hole is multi purp...
