Naw, I love jimping. The more the merrier! I wish the Lil Native had jimping.

Jimping on the blade is cool, but on a handle made from G10 is just silly and a hot spot.

Suggestion on how to greatly improve the Manix 2

After finally owning 4 different versions of the Manix 2, I feel like I have a simple suggestion that would make the Manix 2 more attractive and better... Remove all the jimping from the liners The liner jimping some how makes the knife look more busy and less expensive. And it feels awefull!...

https://i.imgur.com/LhgQrtt.jpg I bought this used from the pawnshop yesterday at a huge discount...($65 US) I have to say it's not a knife I would never have bought new for the $200+ original price, or the $132 current price all because of the pins/rivets!!!! I know S110V is a premium steel but ag...

What about a Byrd version of the Spyderco Catcherman? Maybe give it a cool name like the Kingfisher? I think fishermen would love a cost effective option to go fishing with other then Rapala

Re: Disabled Knife Self Defense

My Father used to train the British police in SD back in the 60's and 70's he taught me a little bit not that I have ever used it. One thing I noticed with the wheel chair guy is no one is circling to get behind him. He would have to put is left arm down to turn the wheel opening himself up to attac...

I used one for years. 1) Get the diamond stones 2) Make sure everything from the rods to the stones is 100% straight. I my first set of stones had a slight warp and I was getting terrible results. The system only works properly if everything is perfectly straight I find the Lansky is great for if yo...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

Hi Bloke, If the pinned knives go right together first time with no redo, they do have some economic advantage and can be sold less expensively. They also require less space. sal https://i.imgur.com/iPt6Olv.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/qEcaxcA.jpg Sal, I have to say I kinda really really dislike pinne...

I took my Cara Cara 2 (g10) apart and cleaned and oiled it, and it made a world of difference. I can't help think the oil used in China is cheap or the wrong kind.

Re: Road Trip Safety: What are your advices/recommendations?

It all depends on how you are traveling. I'm in Canada so it might be different 1) Walmarts will allow you to camp out at any of their parking lots overnight. 2) If you plan on sleeping in your car don't drink. If your keys are in your pocket you can still get charged with a DUI in some places. In f...

The Cara Cara is being made by a new maker. The earlier maker is not longer making knives and the entire production was moved to a new maker. The new pieces are even better than before. We just started to receive some of the models and they are very nice. Very solid with even better quality. sal Hi...

Re: Pm2 vs Manix 2

If you can find the back lock version of the M2 that was recently discontinued, it is superior to the standard Manix 2 and the PM2 in every way. Sadly I could have bought one the other day but it was half serrated so I hesitated and boom it was gone. I got to handle it though and its an extremely s...

Re: Byrd with high-end steel

Hi Cbr, Is that a Honda Cbr? One of the things for many to grasp is that not all "XYZ" is the same. This became very apparent when we introduced serrations to the industry. Most companies followed with their own "style of serrations. We spent a long time developing serrations for per...

Re: 50 cents difference Raven 2 or Tenacious

The Raven is actually much better made then the Tenacious. Spyderco uses a separate factory to make the Raven, Alcyone, and Polestar and you will find the fit and finish to be better. Also the Raven is better steel with CTS-BD1 I wish more people could try out the Raven it's an awesome knife for the...

Hi Cbrstar, Thanx for your references. We've watched them on the past. We have tested their D2 and we've elected not to use it, at least not for Spyderco. I'll present your case for byrd. Hi Sal, I understand what you are saying as Spyderco's commitment to quality and excellence is amazing. The guy...
