Re: Show your mods!

Gotta go thin to win!! Started out thinning with diamond plates but it didn't look that good. Took it to the old 1x30 today and I must say it looks a lot better. Might go a little thinner, right now it's around 0.012" bte. 20230413_173755.jpg Laser thin reground CRKT Spew. Can't really measure ...

Re: Sage 5-Rex121 -Forum knife- Sal-series

I just want to be able to buy a piece of Rex-121 to make my own knife. AKS actually had a piece in stock but I underestimated how quick it would sell.
I like the idea of a Rex-121 Spyderco but I doubt it would be run as thin as it should.

Re: Manix 2 Lightweight - can't unscrew clip

Yeah, I've been really pressing hard with my finger/thumb on the back pin. Just spins. I'll give the heat a try today and see what I come up with. The clip screw on my M4 Manix 2 gave me trouble as well. Luckily it wedged itself in there so I could get the screw out. There was no loctite so heat mi...

Re: Whoever sharpened this PM2 deserves a raise

No kidding ! I might show you just a few( six or seven) of my Golden spydies bought in the last 6 months to juge for yourself. Factory edge … all over the place … uneven and inconsistent cutting bevels… but who knows, maybe that robot is high on something. I've noticed a ripple of sorts on the edge...

https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70973&p=1662512 Page 11, sounds like BBB was not involved with the HT for the mule? BBB says "If another AEB-L run is done, I would like more involvement if possible" and Sal responds "I believe the Mules are already done. If rea...

Re: Bring back this grind on the Native.

Would be cool if the grind came back for a sprint in 440V with an updated heat treatment.

All steels should have a Mule!

I was thinking it would be cool if all the steels Spyderco's used in the past could have a Mule. There a few steels the came and went before the Mule Team project started. I know there's ones that probably won't make sense like Aus6 or the most likely unavailable ATS-55. But some might be interestin...

Re: Which Past Mule Teams Would You Like to See Repeated?

I think doing a second run of certain steel makes sense if they're using an improved heat treatment. Out of the steels on your list I would go with Cruwear, K390, and Maxamet. Out of all the past Mules I would like to see PSF27, ZDP-189, and 52100 redone.

So far so good. Anyone else signed up? :thinking What are you asking it? I have asked questions regarding the economy, the US dollar, where to live, my health issues, martial arts, what foods to eat to stay healthy, how to lose weight.... I've played around with ChatGPT a few times. I was probing i...

Maverick Customs Harpoon by Kizer

Just got this Blade HQ Kizer Maverick Customs Harpoon in 10v and thought I would share. The blade is ground thin but it's hard to measure BTE with the thick coating. I'm not sure what the coating is but it feels rough. Blade length comes in at 3.75" or ~95mm. The scales are micarta with black l...

Re: Anticipation of: CPM REX T15 in MT34

Hmm never noticed that with S125V being predicted over Maxamet before. After reading around Larrin's blog more, it seems his data set is pretty limited when it comes to molybdenum/tungsten carbide based alloys, so it seems like the equation might not very accurately predict the performance of Mo/W ...

Count is getting lower.
I'm sure they'll disappear when the next mule drops.

There doesn't seem to be a limit on the SPY27 MT2.

For $80, that's a pretty sweet looking knife.
Yeah I couldn't pass it up. They had a mini version a few weeks ago for $75 but I held out for the full size.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Working on some height matched holders for the WSPA. That way there's no need to adjust angle for different stones/strops. The plastic has too much friction so I used brass bushings. https://i.ibb.co/MRFfyyP/20230323-144910.jpg https://i.ibb.co/9ww7b3d/20230323-144716.jpg https://i.ibb.co/QM5Bs5p/20...

Re: Anticipation of: CPM REX T15 in MT34

That would make sense, but just going by the appearance of the micrographs since there's no figured available, it seems like they have the same amount of carbide. If anything T15 appears to have a little more. Yet Z-Max is wayyy higher in the CATRA test. Yeah I think Z-max and Maxamet score higher ...

Re: Anticipation of: CPM REX T15 in MT34

It's interesting to me that given how similar T15 and Z-Max are, that Z-Max is so much higher on Larrin's edge retention chart. Given their composition and micrographs, it seems like their carbide content is pretty similar... Z-max is probably closer to Maxamet than T15. The carbon content effects ...

Re: Blade HQ Mint Green M4 Manix LW

I have to join the choir. Since receiving the Minty M4 Manix, haven't been carrying anything else--even though, for me, it is a back pocket knife due to its size. And yes, I got a couple of dark spots on the blade already! It's the "pre-Magnacut Manix." It's a lot like I'd expect Magnacut...
