Re: Backpacking knife ?

I always find this "survival tool" mentality amusing. Most survival scenarios boil down to operator error. Your best survival tool is between your two ears, or ought to be. It is hard to imagine any scenario where a knife will be a critical asset, or where the same weight could not be exc...

Re: Backpacking knife ?

I would personally pick a Mora Companion for a backpacking blade. And a folder for EDC or pocket carry. But the knives you mentioned are great knives and pretty much rustproof. I say you can't go wrong with either choice.

Re: Sold without a box?

Hi, today I received a new Ladybug 3 Salt HB from a large online retailer. Other than expected, it arrived without the usual Spyderco box.. what I got was the knife only, packed in a small bubble envelope, in a clear plastic baggy with a sticker, in a flat cardboard shipping envelope. Is this a usu...

Re: Are you even marginally prepared?

... What I am talking about is a scenario in which if such a thing ever happens, I hope I’m long gone by then. Jim Within the first month, hundreds of millions will perish if we have anything major happen. Most would die from lack of electricity, lack of clean water, lack of food, lack of warmth an...

No. Not in the East coast with big cities and millions of people around you in the same bad shape and desperate.

Re: Spyderco Exclusive Hard Knife Case

How about a custom run of Spyderco Hard Cases from Condition 1, they do custom logo cases with a minimum of 50 units. I can just see one like the picture with a Black bug on the front! What do y’all think? Edit: They are even made in the USA, right here in my backyard! https://condition1.com/pages/...

Re: Spyderco UTILITY Knife...

Interesting to see this thread pop up again. I still believe there is a market, though I don't know how big it would be. To those who say Spyderco can't (more likely won't) compete with Husky, Olfa, Stanley etc... You are correct. They shouldn't. If they were to make a $12 ute I would be LESS incli...

Re: SMKW Spyderco Exclusive?

White G10 is a terrible idea if that's what their coming up with. White in other kinds of materials may work, but that's a dangerous color to have if it's going to actually be used. It'll appeal to the dye crowd, and someday will be one of those secondary market unicorns because so many will get dy...

Re: Spyderco UTILITY Knife...

I'm surprised so many people are against the idea of a quality utility knife. I suppose this forum isn't often an accurate representation of the general knife community, so maybe there is still hope :) I would not say against exactly. As much as lack of demand and trying to compete in a market with...

Carrying my #1 today. Favorite folder in the collection.
I was just curious if this knife in H1 has eliminated the corrosive sweat issue you had with other folders?

Re: Byrd Hawkbill, Replacement Scales? Deep-Carry Clip?

I just tried installing a stock delica spoon clip on my meadowlark and the meadowlark clip screw thickness are a little larger than the stock delica clip screw, no go without enlarging the delica screw holes for meadowlark scales. So, most delica clips should fit, you just need to bore out the clip...

Re: Spyderco UTILITY Knife...

Way too much competition in the utility knife sector for Spyderco to compete and make an affordable knife. when I can go to Home Depot and buy a 2 pack of Husky utility knives for under $12 I could be wrong and that's fine if I am. But I don't blame Spyderco for not showing much interest in this area.

Re: Favorite Tom Hanks movies

Tom Hanks has turned into the best actor in modern times, and maybe in half a century or more. He is really good. I have a few of his movies that I really like. In no particular order: That Thing You Do -- This is a fun movie. I remember when it was released in the theaters everyone was up dancing ...
