Topic: Alternative to black G-10 -- Optional 2nd color choice for regular production knives?

I like black because there are worse colors. The brown color on the Southard doesn't really do it for me as a standard production color. I agree that the Forum Native's green is excellent.

I would love to see Micarta make it's way onto more knives. Micarta, to me, feels so much better than G-10.

The opposite is true of steel bearings though, particularly in detents. If it were to get stuck in place by some dirt, the ball could be worn/flattened. Ceramic is harder than steel so perhaps what steel they're being used against is more of a factor. Steel bearings are much softer than hardened ste...

Modifying the flipper knives?

My Southard got some grit in it recently and I couldn't blow it out with compressed air or wash it out, so it had to be taken apart. When doing so I couldn't help but think that the washers and bearings could be upgraded and maybe make for a slightly better action. I didn't find any information on t...

I spent a huge chunk of money recently on a WE Pro Pack II because I'm too impatient to perfect hand sharpening. I think if I knew someone locally who was into knives my learning curve could be shortened some, but since I don't, I find the systems to work really well. The Sharpmarker is great for to...

There are plenty of other super steels that offer rust resistance, I would stick with one of them.

There is a section on Bladeforums for people offering their skills doing anything you want to your knife. I would look there (I'm mobile otherwise I would link, sorry)

My Southard came ridiculously dull...I wonder if it's just the CTS204P's wear resistance being a factor when they sharpen them up quickly before going out. On the plus side, you know you won't have to sharpen it too often.

Don't play with the pivot yet, just add some lubricant and it will be fine...my stock Para 2 I got had the same issue. A little Nano and it's smoothhhhhh

The wobble isn't really an issue but I would like to see a new system come out that is deeper (so rods can sit in further and remove play) and has more storage for the other sharpening stones.

Eventually you will have to re-sharpen. The steel wears away and thickens up at the edge.

So many knives I want here, I hope they are all put in production. I've always been drawn to the Tanto, but I just don't see myself doing anything but fondling it...which is a shame. Not a huge fan of G-10 though and VG-10 is not my favorite steel, but still drawn to that beautiful blade. The Bowie,...

The steels aren't drastically different. S35VN is slightly tougher and machines better (which was the main reason for the creation, is my understanding). If you're looking for edge holding improvements, I don't think that was really the aim.

Maybe the knife needs to be lubed and you're mistaking that for friction caused by the FRN?

I love the XHP steel so much on my Techno that I actually look forward to seeing it on other knives. I'm not a D2 guy so it caught me offguard having such good results using it. Would love to see XHP replace S30V as a main offering. M4 is awesome though, just saying..mucho love for XHP at this point...

I don't know that the Manix 2 and Para 2 are hot because of their locks. The PM2 is extremely ergonomic, has a nice blade size and is relatively thin and light. It hits in all the right places. I think the size of the Military is what turns those who don't purchase one off more than the lock type. P...

I've not had any issue keeping VG-10, 14C28N, AEB-L or CTS XHP ridiculously sharp. I guess I don't really see the advantages to carbon steels over stainless these days. I haven't seen the prices of VG-10, but I'd bet it's the most expensive of those I've listed....the others are available at afforda...

Cliff needs to design a knife for Spyderco. Call if the SpyderCliff.

Would love to see some inexpensive knives that are well treated in AEB-L or similar steels from Sandvik. There's a market for these steels being done right IMHO.
