Re: Knife & Watch

JD, If you own expensive watches, you have them insured so that losing them won't be catastrophic. It's only a couple of dollars a month. Investing in a Rolex isn't a bad idea, if you have the money to spare. Subs and Daytonas hold their value very well if you take care of it. I'm an Omega guy, myse...

I actually have two Enduras in HAP40. The Delica is a little small for me.

Re: Spyderco A.T.R return please!

I have both a plain edge stainless ATR and a plain edge titanium ATR. I can confirm the titanium version provides more traction for gripping in the hand.

I have no problem getting S110v shaving sharp on my EdgePro. It behaves about the same as M390 in my experience. I love it.

HAP40 is the only steel that actually scares me. It will cut you without you even knowing it.

Re: Some thoughts on my new Manix s110v

HAP40 takes an edge like nothing I've ever seen before, including CPM-M4. If you've ever sharpened M390 before, S110V behaves much like that under the stone.

Re: S90V and S110V

I prefer S110V in my EDC folders. It can more easily take a razor-sharp, hair-popping edge in my experience. It's very nice to work with when sharpening, much like M390. I have both but I like S110V more for EDC.

Re: 30 deg back bevel and 40 deg edge on all Spydercos?

Someone needs to create an ' Idiot's Guide To Sharpening Knives ', perhaps one specific to using the Sharpmaker... For those of us new to knife collecting and sharpening - it can be challenging to read some of the commentary surrounding this subject matter coming from the more experienced users... ...

Yep, it's in this video from Blade HQ. Eric discusses and shows it at the 6:45 mark.

Re: 30 deg back bevel and 40 deg edge on all Spydercos?

Get a wicked edge you wont be sorry I use something similar, an EdgePro Professional. I set the bevel angle to whatever is appropriate relative to the steel, blade thickness and use. The EP will sharpen virtually anything, including this Busse. https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5449/7229891372_272ecb46...

Have you not seen the video of Spyderco's sharpening robot? Seriously, they have one and it looks like it sets the angle precisely.

Re: Superleaf sprint run?

I picked one up on the Blade Forums market after searching for one in good condition for almost a year. I really like similar Spydercos that are large-ish in size, like the Manix 2 and Manix XL. I gotta say, I love the Superleaf. It has a bit more reach than the average knife of its size. It allows ...

Re: I'm going to really miss Amazon!!!!

And Amazon is not selling these knives.... That is disingenuous nonsense. Amazon absolutely sells Spyderco knives from their own inventory and the issue is them selling below cost which drives the competition out of business. The only reason Amazon can sell below manufacturer cost is because they f...

Re: I'm going to really miss Amazon!!!!

If you look at Amazon's earnings reports, they lose money on their retail business. They make about $500 million per quarter on their Amazon Web Services, where they have such a large lead over everyone else, it's silly. Amazon can afford to sell items below cost (and drive all competitors out of bu...

Re: The Spyderco Starmate

Your story is similar to mine, starting off with a very nice Spyderco right off the bat. My first Spyderco was a Vallotton Sub-hilt. When it arrived, my reaction was, "WHOA. LOOK AT THIS THING!" It was like nothing I'd ever seen or held before. I was hooked right then and there. Obviously ...
