20 years Every Day Carry with a single Spyderco! with Pics

20 year of Every Day Carry with a Spyderco ENDURA!!! In 1986 or 1987 Officer Paul V. from my department saw an advertisement for a Spyderco knife in a Police magazine. He and some of the guys liked the idea behind having a knife clipped to your pocket capable of being opened by one hand with a serra...

Also not sure if they cross matter but i have an FRN Delica that I know I purchased in late 95 or early 96 that is marked AUS8. yablanowitz seemed to recall that they used AUS8 when they could not get Gin-1 for some reason and not necessarily as a move to that steel over Gin-1. Logically the Delica ...

Thanks guys. Myself personally, I do not have any SS Enduras anymore. I always thought they were slippery and have preferred FRN. yablanowitz over on Bladeforums had much the same info as the Deacon so I think we can say we have the closest we will get unless Sal joins with different info. I went ov...

I think there were some AUS-6 enduras made where the tang stamp appears to say AUS-8 due to an imperfection.
Spydiwiki needs to be updated.
Never heard of this before but could be. As far as I know all AUS 6 blades were only on steel handled versions though.

Endura date history questions for Sal or Spyderco Rep/Expert

Not sure if all the experts visit both this and the Bladeforums Spyderco forum so I have reposted it here. Sal, I realize the FRN Endura debuted in 1990 with what is called the "thin FRN clip" and no steel marked on the blade. 1. What year did you start to mark the steel on the blades? 2. ...

nope, i recall reading sal saying they would all be navy/dark blue FRN I hope you are right because a new color for me would be cool. However my local dealer said the pre order has them down for gray FRN. In reference to the original post. I have been carrying gray at least every other day(every da...

I have been away for awhile. As you would guess Tony, I agree with you. The Endura is the best for me. As a matter of fact, I found this thread because I periodically search "Endura". Ha, Ha

Off the top of my head you are missing the "titanium" coated and black coated blades too. I would have to check which generation they all are though. I think I have a IC and IIIA. Nice referencing by the way. Somewhere I have written from memory the approximate dates they came out.

I like to sharpen on a regular basis too. Anything AUS 8 and up was/is fine with me.

If the only Enduras left were AUS 6 I would still buy them though because the design and weight (and muscle memory) is perfect for me.

I whole heartedly recommend the Spyderco Sharpmaker. That being said a set of ceramic crock sticks http://www.lanskysharpeners.com/LCS5D.php for light touch ups will work until you can afford a Sharpmaker. If you need something courser wrap wet/dry sandpaper around the stones. Let me stress I think ...

Somewhere I still have the Tactical Knives magazine from about 1992 I think where I circled a Spyderco Endura and a Cold Steel SRK in a Chicago Cutlery advertisement in the center. Went off To OSU and finally went to a gun store big enough to carry Spydercos. Went home with a SE Endura and have been...

Keep in mind, it's possible that your Dealer doesn't buy direct from us. They may buy through one of our Distributors. This of course lengthens the time it takes to get product. Hope this information helps. Kristi +1, My small time dealer goes through a distributor. Good prices for me but I don't a...

I'll let yablanowitz handle the in depth description because he is doing a better job with the technical description than I can. I have used Sharpmakers and the Sharpie with several other knives lately. It looks to me like whatever angle you are using is not reaching the very edge of the blade. If i...

I add my thanks to KaliGman. The trainer is a great idea and assuming you could get the thumbhole fixed (STR?) the little lady will be totally down with opening the folder at the appropriate age. Kman is also correct...you sound like solid parent. Speaking of manual dexteriy, how about the Bali-yo?...
