Hey Will, There’s nothing wrong with the Spydies you listed. I carry a Delica and would favor the Delica or Endura, since you can get a trainer too. If you are serious about using the blade for SD you should go to Mike’s MBC classes. You’ll learn how to open one-handed in reverse. With practice you ...

Hey interloper, As I understand it the Gunting was designed for MBC and to give the user less-lethal options. IMHO: the only special skill you need with a Gunting (and even this could be optional) is the kinetics opening. Open you can use the Gunting with the “MBC training tapes” (I assume you mean ...

Hey BS, Thanks for stopping here in the MBC forum and spreading your initials. We haven’t had a troll here since the juvenile postings of Hannibal. I know Mike Janich and the Ronin, it may only be a “box cutter on steroids”, but the cutting power and the overall design are excellent. If the Ronin is...

Hey Sven,

The Ronins should be out "soon". It comes down to personal choice. The Ronin is bigger then the SPOT, but very manageable in hand. I'd want for the Ronin.

Hey Sal,

I'd like to see a Spydie Karambit (folding or not) in production. I'd like to see what Bram's idea is (at least as a reference).

Hey Roshi,

There are no books that cover Gunting specifically. For a list of good books (& videos) on MBC check out Mike's MBC website. The URL is www.martialbladecraft.net .

Hey bladestorm, Welcome aboard. There are no specific techniques for the Ayood in the MBC system Mike teaches. Sadly (at this time) there is no training blade for Ayood. My best suggestions are. 1) Go to MBC classes either in Golden, CO or one of Mike’s off site sessions. 2) Get yourself a Delica tr...

Wounds to the head tented to bleed a lot, but they are necessarily painful. Their stopping power is mostly psychological. Debilitating only if you get the eyes, a target James Keating advocates in his “Reverse Grip” tape. Lastly attacking the face would not win any points with a jury, if you were tr...

Heavy winter coats, multiple levels, leather jackets, all will lessen the cutting and to some degree the thrusting effectiveness of any blade. Regardless of the methods used. A few options are: Go for less armored targets (maybe the legs). More thrusting, less cutting. Using other tools (strikes, ki...
