Re: I just bought an FRN Police 4 in K390…
The Police 4 FRN is such an amazing design. It really does carry small for how large it is due to the slim construction, yet is one of the sturdiest folders I have with its full liners and tough materials. A VG-10 example was one of my first Spydercos, and remains a workhorse in my stable. I had a K...

Re: Siren Sprint S90
Finally got time to reprofile mine and have been carrying it. What a knife! Lightweight, great ergos, and wow yep that S90V takes a wicked edge. The carbon fiber feels “dry” and grippy- awesome for EDC though I’ll be taking my LC200N version when I go fishing,

Re: Sage 5 LW vs Manix 2
I have both, but for EDC I prefer the Sage. It is honestly one of the best quality folders I’ve ever had. Very smooth and a pleasure to open and close- the fit and finish and feel in the hand are simply superb.

Re: Spyderco police model
Very cool knife! Thanks for sharing. I’m really not sure what the value would be, but I appreciate that you’ve kept that nice Spyderco workhorse for such a long time. I myself have a modern production version of the Police model with FRN (nylon) handles and it is a superb knife that can really take ...

I wonder what it would take to commission our own run? I’m sure that companies get batches engraved for their employees- could we do something like that?

Re: Question for Sal and Eric
I had a big strong tango folder for a while and, while I did like it, it still had a couple of things that ultimately led me to pass it along. First, it was like having two edges on the same knife and while the top chisel edge was useful for some things, the two edges didn’t really work together in ...

Re: Forumites vs. Normals
There is not a single production knife company that offers even close to the number of premium models and configurations as Spyderco. It’s the wide variety of materials, details and options that appeals to me personally. I am most definitely a nerd, and I feel comfortable saying that most of the res...

Re: CENTOFANTE!
I’ll add my support to a Centofante update and/or sprint- screwed construction would be a major upgrade but not necessary. I also really like the wharncliffe blade shape. It’s a beautiful, functional design with a touch of class.

From a fellow Alaskan, welcome mbbrown! The great thing about living in AK is that you can find so many uses for your knife collection. I’m sure you’ll find plenty of interesting info and entertainment here, and that your collection will grow.

Re: Pick One Spyderco for last knife.
Ahh what a tortuous question! If I could truly only have one cutting tool for the rest of my life it would be an H1 Pac Salt with serrated edge. Ounce-for-ounce it’s the lightest, toughest, most ferocious cutting tool I own.

Re: Caspian
Commercial fishermen in Alaska buy serrated Victorinox “Vickies” for the season- inexpensive paring knives that are good for cutting netting. They just buy 3 for less than $30 a year and dispose of them or lose them. I’ve seen cheap stainless Moras used as deck knives too- sharpened annually on a gr...

Re: Striations on surface of Spyderco blades?????
In his recent interview, Eric talked about the challenges of grinding 15V and Maxamet quite a bit. He mentioned that unstable vanadium carbides can gouge a hole right through the edge bevel. This must be some specialized tooling that helps prevent this and allows Spyderco to grind these steels that ...

Re: enuff 2!!!
Wow, after watching Eric’s interview and seeing the K390 Enuff 2 in hand, I’m getting really pumped for this release! Even though I just got a Waterway, another slim little fixed blade will be making its way into my stable ASAP. I’ve tried the handle on an original Enuff in my local store and it fit...

Re: Spyderco Siren CF/S90v Sprint…In The Wild!
I had the regular Siren before buying the sprint, so I already liked the ergonomics of it. Very easy to use a pinch grip up on the blade for precision work. I like having a bit of a guard to keep fingers from sliding. The sprint run is just as good as the regular one in terms of fit and finish, but ...
