Re: Talking about your traditional knives

Yes. They seem like s small operation. Their knives are really well made. Perhaps not as refined in some ways as gec but they've got titanium liners, mosaic pins, bronze washers and premium steels.

Re: Clips you don’t like do not constitute a fatal flaw

The clip on the Swayback is definitely a flaw. I definitely disagree on this one. While aesthetically it might not have been the best choice in some people’s minds, it is functional, comfortable for many, and doesn’t impede any function or use of the knife so I don’t see it as a flaw at all. I opte...

Re: Clips you don’t like do not constitute a fatal flaw

Sometimes a perfectly good clip and clip placement for some is a fatal flaw for others. - For me the wire clip is a good example, on my Para 3lw it folds over all the time and will eventually break or damage the knife. It is also problematic in use as the knife suddenly shifts in hand. -The clip pla...

Re: First mod, pivot issue

If the new washers are even just a touch thicker than the old ones, the lock bar may not travel quite as far over. This may result in play. If you can push the lockbar over and it eliminates the play then there is your issue. You can then sand down the washers a little and put them back in, and/or b...

I follow these guys on fb and IG, keep seeing posts about more being released and it made me want to carry one of mine. This is the first one I got. It’s in us2000, (similar to Cruwear). My other is in m390. Great knives!

Re: 1st Impressions Of The New SpyOpera

Too bad they excluded lefties. Oh well, bank account is happy with that, lol! Not sure what you mean... a back-lock is ambidextrous. That's one of the positive things about a back-lock. The pocket clip is right side, tip up only. Exactly, if I can’t carry it lefty an ambidextrous lock doesn’t mean ...

Re: Which Spyderco stainless is least prone to accidental edge damage?

Obviously there are a lot of factors involved and the experts have chimed in with the sciency stuff. My two cents, as far as stainless steels go, S35vn and CTS-XHP have held up the best for me against accidental and harder use damage.

Re: Civivi knives, anyone?

Their modern folders don’t call to me. Got the Rustic Gent, I think that’s what it’s called. Super well made but lacks character.

Re: Spyderco Lock Type Preference

I voted ball bearing, I assume we’re talking cbbl as in my Manix2. Wish they would use it more but I guess it’s hard to fit into designs. Next up would be the compression lock, particularly button activated as on the Smock! Hopefully we will see some more of that soon. Last on my list is a backlock,...

Re: Talking about your traditional knives

As much as I like GEC, I’ve acquired a number of other brands. Here is my Queen made Trestle Pine Knives “Topper”. It is one of my most carried, if you’ve seen some of my other posts you’ll know I’ve got a thing for caplifters. When I got it, I really should have sent it back. The blade and lifter w...

Re: Showing how much a butcher sharpens steel off a blade

My late fathers old “roast beef knife”. He used it nearly every Sunday to slice the roast. He almost always took it downstairs to his 1/2hp coarse grinding wheel first. The blade used to be more than twice the height. After he past, I decided to see if I could put new life to it. Reshaped the blade,...
