Spydiechef blade centering

Received my new Spydiechef yesterday... came with really bad lock stick (need to pry it open every once in a while because it's so stuck) and very stiff action. Took it apart, cleaned it, oiled it with some 85w nano oil, put some sharpie on the lock faces (didn't help), but when I reassambled it I n...

Re: why does the EU get knives first?

Usually when some websites are saying something is available "now" or "soon" you should expect some weeks or months of "nowness" and "soonity"...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?

. I sent my Chef in due to lock stick and gritty action developing after 6 months of use. Received a letter stating that the issues were caused by normal wear and tear.....along with a brand new Spydiechef. You sent in a knife that according to Spyderco had no warranty issues and they sent you a ne...

Re: Spydiechef Chip

...if the blade hits the standoff when closing the knife one-handed, you gotta do a **** lotta sharpening before you take away enough material to actually prevent that, I guess. Somehow, since I ordered one, I seem to notice more and more people having issues with the Spydiechef (lockstick, blade's ...

Is returning it to the vendor an option? I would echo Joe and say do not modify it if you might return it, you will nullify the warranty, and Spyderco should see how the knife looks when you got it.

No, unfortunately that's not an option, I bought this NIB from a collector.

Re: New PM2 lock stick issue

Best I can do for you is this: https://youtu.be/sta3r7Wyh20?t=130 At 2:10 you get to see the lockbar and I'm sure there are other parts where you can pause to get a look from other angles as well. I can't imagine you needing to file off too much of anything, you arent reshaping the lockbar by any m...

Re: New PM2 lock stick issue

Well, right now I'm pretty undecided. I'd rather not keep it the way it performs right now and I'm doubting that more use will cure the issue (I flicked it literally a thousand times up to now and neither this nor applying oil or sharpie or graphite did anything on it, anything at all...). Sending i...

Re: New PM2 lock stick issue

I've had PM2 lock stick that was cured with just a very little oil. Yeah, unfortunately that didn't work for me... If I decided to send it in, how exactly does this work? Would I have to cover both sending and returning costs? May there be warranty issues since I took the knife apart for inspection?

Re: New PM2 lock stick issue

The lockbar does come in contact with the tang and i'm almost positive that that is 100% your issue right there. It definitely counts as a defect so you should send it in, in the meantime you can also try to take an abrasive to it and see if you can smooth it down to feel normal again, like using e...

Re: New PM2 lock stick issue

This is the best my prehistoric Iphone camera can do, that's the locking portion of the liner with the stop pin after I cleaned it. The rough and streaky area is making contact with the blade tang when the knife is opened and locked.

Didn't get a decent picture of the burr behind the detent ramp.

New PM2 lock stick issue

So some weeks ago I got my first PM2, a 51200 CF. Right out of the box I noticed that the lock was pretty sticky but not the "jammed" kind of stickiness that releases the lock with a "click", it has more of a very rough, gritty feel all the way, like the contacting surfaces weren...

What is a slow roll?
It has a thumb hole. It opens great using that.

For lack of a better term, that's the slow roll (when you use your thumb to slowly rotate the blade out of the scales rather than flicking it)... ;)

Favourite method to open PM2?

I'm curious... how do you open your Paramilitary 2? Which method do you prefer? When I grab it I kind of naturally tend to flick it with my thumb but I actually find the middle finger flick the most satisfying way to open it... also the coolest... How bout you? https://www.alloutdoor.com/wp-c...

You can tell by the date code on the box. Look for date code DR or newer.

Oh, ok, I see... didn't get that earlier. Thanks, Seth.
So an April one is safe to have the upgraded detent?
