Re: Employment

Hasn't really changed that much really as far as the laws go, some are actually better with more freedom. Easier to get a CCW now than before. Respectfully, this statement is absurd. Disregarding which side of the aisle you are on, you cannot possibly argue that we have "more freedom" tha...

Pattada owners: Tell me about it

I am increasingly drawn to the Pattada. I can't stop looking at it. However, before I go and drop $$ on a new knife, I'd like to ask the actual owners of this beautiful knife what they like about it & what they don't. It looks great on paper and in video, but I've yet to handle one in person. It...

Re: Employment

I guess depending on the job, the pay, whether you've invested time/money into an education or training to get the job, would all play very important factors in the decision to leave or not. If it's some lower lever entry job that you could pick up anywhere, then ok I guess it's fine to leave (as l...

Re: Employment

I think the OP needs to grow up a little. If your employer had a no knife policy, you either go along or you don’t work there. Simple as that. My office has a nonknife policy. Do I like it? No. But I go along with it because I love the pay. Being able to carry a knife on me 24/7 is not a big deal to...

Re: Migration to smaller knives....didn't realize

As has been said, I think many guys carry way more knife than they need. They are convinced that a 4” blade is the minimum that they need to accomplish their tasks. It’s probably way overkill, but if you enjoy a large folder in your pocket, have at it. On the flip side, there are guys like me who us...

Re: What do you want to see more of from Spyderco?

I want to see more slim carry knives, along the lines of the Benchmade 940, 710, and Spyderco Pattada. I really like knives that don't take up a lot of pocket real estate. The slimmer the better.

I could not shake open any of the PM2's or Para 3's that I used to own. They had nice solid detents.

Re: No love for the Lil Native?

I don't get the Lil Native. It's basically the exact same size as the Dragonfly. For the size, it really doesn't matter on the lock, it's a light duty type of pocketknife. I wanted to like it, but after handling it alongside my G-10 D'fly, I walked away loving my D'fly even more.

It's a dud, IMHO.

Re: Cupped washers

We took apart a coworker’s Domino yesterday. It had cupped washers. We cleaned, lubed, and reassembled it. Guess what? It flips just fine. In fact, it’s very, very smooth. Even with the cupped washers, the knife flips like it’s supposed to. After reading a lot about these washers, I’m convinced that...

That’s great Capt. Sounds like Milo will be the new mascot of the school, haha. It’s never easy, and many people just don’t understand how much love we have for our pets. But hang in there. We’re here if you need to vent in the future.

Re: Where is the new, improved Advocate?

I wonder how much of the “Advocate hysteria” was due to Rob Bixby, aka apostlep, going off on his rant? He’s since taken that video down, but I think he’s lost a lot of credibility by blowing things way out of proportion. I know he doesn’t take criticism very well; he left Bladeforums in a huff afte...

Re: Lost my best friend today...

I'm so sorry to hear this, but you gave her a wonderful life. Like all lives, they must end eventually. Take comfort in knowing how much she loved you for giving her all that you did. Part of the deal with having pets is experiencing what you just had to go through. I think we've all been through it...

Domino & Dice Owners; please read

Has the issue with Spyderco and their washers & bearings been blown out of proportion by the “YouTube gurus”? I own a Dice and Domino and absolutely love them. A coworker has owned both a Dice and Domino since they came out and carried them both daily, and uses them daily as work knives. He’s no...

Re: The Advocate - An Official Statement from Spyderco

Good point chb. I carried my Domino yesterday and loved it. It’s a fantastic knife. I was never a “flipper guy” until I got the Domino and Dice. Now, flippers are probably my favorite. I also have a ZT0450 & 0460; excellent flippers as well.

Re: The Advocate - An Official Statement from Spyderco

I’m new to Spyderco flippers; I just got a Domino and a Dice. Does this information apply to those models? So far they seem to be working fine, but I’m wondering if I need to be concerned now. I was really liking them, now I’m having doubts about the robustness of these knives. Should I be concerned...
