He certainly makes a great looking knife, with great materials and at a great price too.
Is there a model that would strike your fancy in particular?

Charles May knives?

For those of you who have read the last issue of TK, you have probably read the article on Charles May knives. Very clean and refined outdoor knives. It has been bugging me for a while and this morning I decided to take the plunge and ordered a Holt Collier Special in D2 and desert ironwood. It was ...

Yet another CKE review:

Our very own CKE is quite the talented knife-maker, so much so that I had him grind me a knife I've been wanting for years; a sterile all titanium necker. That's all the details I gave him with the words "tactical scalpel" and he could grind something his own style with those specs. Boy, d...

IL, dunno if I understood you right, but my one and only experience with the "8blablabla" steel - its great. I sharpen it every time ONLY with the 204UF and the result after is very close to the VG10s of mine IMO. Maybe you just managed to do something what would need a reprofiling. Same ...

The Salt series is an amazing products line-up and it's time like that when I see Spyderco pushing the enveloppe and comming up with new and exciting products that I truely feel they are King of production knives. I have a knife rotation like any one else but when my Salt 1 isn't in use, it doesn't ...

Raven Review

Story begins like many other of my stories: first day off in ages, decide to go DVD hunting, come back home with no DVD but a new knife... This time, my victim was a Byrd Raven PE. I have been contemplating buying one of those for a few weeks. I was curious at what Spyderco could make a "made i...

strange question I suppose but here it goes: I have noticed a few Byrd knives ressemble Spyderco designs: Cara Cara - Endura Meadowlark - Delica Flight- Native and so on do you think they could ressurect the Dodo concept in a more affordable Byrd package? I know it wouldn't be the same but would it ...

That's my cue I guess :) It is very, very durable. Truth be known, I haven't cut cardboard a whole lot with it because I feel it wears the edge and finish too much when I have a beater for that but otherwise, the Mili has been used for pretty much everything and the finish hasn't worn through or clo...

I think you should call her CPM-S30V. It really rolls off your tongue :)

In fact, I really like Taz if our own TazKristi doesn't take any offence.
if not, then Jester

I don't know exactly how many knives I have but probably around 70-75. Only 5-6 have never had ANY use, because I bought them just cause I wanted them in my collection or something and don't feel like using them that leaves 65-70 knives that have seen SOME use, that can be whitteling, food prep, out...

Hey Simon
Miss Dean is doing great. We've been together for 4 months now I think. Everything is going great. I should by her a Byrd to celebrate that!
Is it because of the Milie incident that you don't deal with Le Baron anymore? Have you found a better selection someplace else?

very nice thread topic I like to be called by my first name, Simon, preferably with a french accent. I use a nickname on the net cause it just seems to be the thing to do but in reallife I much prefer to be called by my real name. When I'm dealing with the bank or something, I like to be called &quo...

My latest trip at "Le Baron"

The name should be familiar to anyone in the Montreal area. I stopped by there yesterday even though I didn't plan on buying anything(I just bought a Ronin!), but noticed at the knife counter that they now have 5 or 6 Byrd models. Now I've never been all that interested in Byrd knives. I enjoy using...

I handled it a little bit and liked the feel and heft of it. The blade design seemes to be very fonctionnal and I liked it overall. A good price, indeed.

My only concern was D2 steel but if you say it's ok, I may give it a shot. Nice pics

I posted a thread a while ago about the glass cutting board I had bought (I know, I know....), and how it rolled the edge of any knife I would use on it, including S30V. Since then I became very careful about glass and sharp edges. Still, you would think de-foiling a bottle wouldn't eb as hard as ch...
