Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Over the years I’ve figured out a lot of personal knife preferences…i don’t like frame locks; I don’t like flippers; I really don’t like thumb studs. Thank goodness because all these crk’s are pretty! this thread helps me wrap my brain around a fluted cf native at some point. My bank account is happ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Out of habit, I grab the kapara most mornings when I get dressed. Same thing today, but headed to the garage shortly and will prob swap for an efficient.

Re: Coffee Pour Over Devices?
Confessional…I’m as much or more a coffee geek than Spyderco nerd. About a month ago, my digital temperature controlled electric gooseneck kettle stopped heating water. I shed a couple of small tears and spent the better part of a day trying to figure out my system! The other night I finally made th...

Re: Coffee Pour Over Devices?
Ugh…long post vaporized and didn’t post! I’ll reiterate, good coffee in the cup starts with good ingredients (beans + water); a quality conical burr style grinder will make a difference for you esp if you are using the metal screen filter that comes with the bodum pourover; use a scale to measure yo...

Re: Lil native lightweight excitement
Really interested in this as well. I live in a city that mandates short blades. The Dragonfly has the right length, but I don't find it all that comfortable in hand. I prefer getting all my fingers on the handle. Enter the Janlica.Yes, it looks weird, but it feel so right. I wonder how the Lil Nati...

Re: Lil native lightweight excitement
^I carried a lil native comp lock pretty much daily for about 8 months until I picked up an efficient. I find the handle to be much more hand-filling than the dragonfly (not that the df is bad, just that the ln is better suited to heavier tasks). I’m looking forward to giving the lw a run! P_atrick,...

Re: Lil native lightweight excitement
I want to love the dragonfly, but I often try to use it iwb when trail running/hiking and that pointy end gets real annoying. Been using para 3 lw but would prefer a lil native with some softer edges and maybe bd1n instead (or something salty yet affordable)!!

Lil native lightweight excitement
No idea when we’ll see it, but I’m excited for the Lil Native lw!
That is all.

Re: Funky oddball bikes!
This reminded me of an article I read a while back about Christian Zenga riding across Africa on a tall bike! He builds some pretty crazy tall bikes. https://i.imgur.com/SwAUYPH.jpeg None of my bikes are that "odd". I guess my 1st gen Gary Fisher Rig was pretty odd when I bought it 20ish ...

Re: Sharpening the tips of blades?
Thanks for the "tips" on sharpening, everyone. It is a real pain in the gluteus maximus to get tips sharp using a Sharpmaker. A guided system or stones are no problem. I can't find my stones. They are packed somewhere from our move. Maybe I need to try a flat diamond hand sharpener that I...

Re: Stock/broth (and ferments?!)
I took off for a quick coast trip this weekend, but before leaving I realized that I was running low on both standard kraut as well as the spicy red cabbage kraut I typically keep around…soooo, I pulled together a quick batch of each before leaving! I tend to be a bit impatient, so I typically “seed...

Re: Sharpening tips?
This is good…I always have the same issues when using the sharpmaker (sharp”keeper”?) vs my guided system. Doc, may I suggest modifying the title of this thread a bit to better indicate that it addresses sharpening the end point “tips” rather than dealing with a more general “sharpening tips”, as in...

Re: Is the Sage 5 LW actually better than the Para 3 LW? A side-by-side comparison and use diary.
Yes, thanks! One of these days I’ll pick up a sage lw. I think you'll like it. I certainly do. I’m due time! It is kind of an ideal combo of design queues from many of my favorites all rolled into one…I just didn’t realize it until I had a bunch of those others! I literally had one in hand at the k...

Re: Polestar in bd1n?
I recently picked up an older version alcyone with the “denim” handles and bd1 steel. When I chose it, it was over a bunch of other Spydercos in hand. I kind of wish I also threw down on the polestar! I’m still trying to figure out what edge treatment works best for this steel and blade geometry but...
