Re: Lil Native Light Weight?
Looking at the photos again, I noticed that there is a solid area in the frn pattern where the lock pivot is, BUT no apparent pin or screw on either side. I sure hope there is an internal steel pin in there! Where did you see both sides? I'd like to check that out I've only seen photos of one side....

I sure hope there is an internal steel pin in there! Isn't the backlock the stop? I don’t know if the natives have an internal stop pin like tha...

Re: FRN Texturing likes and dislikes
I have to agree with Doc Dan…the bidirectional is great on large and medium size knives intended for “work” but I find that the texture they use on the UKPN to be fantastic for smaller and more casual knives. For instance, I like the grip on the chap, but seemingly like others, it’s probably my most...

Re: The Show youre manixes thread.
Okay…I’m starting to think that I eventually need to give a manix a try. There has been a backlock version for sale on a second hand website, within reasonable shipping distance, but the price seems a bit high and it’s been listed for a very long time. What would the general Consensus be for pricing...

Re: Byr forum inactivity
While I haven’t really spent any time with the raven2/crow2, my tern and Byrd back locks have all been great! My harrier frn and hawkbill are much better in the smoothness and lockup arena than any of my Seki knives. The hawkbill esp is a vault! Waiting to replenish the budget a bit before picking u...

Re: Chinese Centering
This topic always cracks me up! My few Taichung knives are dead center. My numerous value/Byrd user knives all arrived dead center, some have developed barely perceptible off-centering from lots of cutting. Of my few golden models, only my lil native and ukpn are on par with my Chinese models, the o...

Re: Trying SE for the first time on a Byrd ?
As said above, I would also toss in my recommendation for the harrier! Unless your buddy is restricted to the shorter knife, the harrier is just a couple millimeters longer but gets you a bunch more usable edge length, and what I consider a handle more comfortably sized for a wide range of hands. If...

Re: Lil Native Light Weight?
I used a lil as my daily driver on a construction site for about a year. I found that for actual SLICING tasks (opening/breaking down boxes, and lunch fruit/veggies) it would bog down and wedge, creating a less than safe condition. Worked great for everything else. I ended up thinning down the edge ...

Did a quick and dirty reprofile on the N5 Salt this afternoon. 45 mins from start to tree topping. https://i.imgur.com/3RzsAYT.jpg Don’t suppose you have a “before” photo to compare the tooth profile? Not too long ago I finally decided to “reprofile” my s35vn SE native. From the factory it was righ...

New Kershaw knives
Has anyone around here checked out the new Kershaw cargo/debris mid-lock knives, or the deschutes caper fixed blade? For a very long time I was basically a Kershaw and Gerber user…Gerber makes great river knives and I lived in portland so both brands dominated the market there (along with benchmade ...

Re: Spyderco be like...
Leaving aside popularity, what advantages do tanto blades have in your uses? This is easy. I used to carry a chisel ground tanto blade, and I've given it much thought. It would be cool to have one of my favorite Spyderco's with a tanto blade. And I'm talking about a tanto with straight edges, not t...

^We’ve been having the same problem here. Had a few days with sun and temps even into the 60’s, but nothing enough for a big flush apparently. It’s funny though, all the places I would normally expect to find some morels have been a bust, but then I find some in unlikely places. It might not seem it...

I lost my first dragonfly to the Columbia River within days of receiving it! No longer will I ever wear a folder clipped to the waste and of my shorts while paddling! I promptly replaced that knife with an ARK to wear around my neck. Live and learn

Re: Spyderco Kitchen knives
The other thing, these kitchen knives are LIGHTWEIGHT and ring out…if you tap the blade it literally rings. I’ve never experienced that before. I cannot speak for myabi but the spyderco/Carter knives a much lighter than most of the “fancy” department Japanese-like options such as shun that I’ve hand...
