I used to carry a Police model in uniform but opted back to the Endura because it just became too slick to use when wet.

The SS does give knives a nice heft and feels very strong. But they get scratched real fast. They are perfect as a presentation gift because of their ease of engraving.

Maybe stress-induced carbide precipitation due to sharpening? Sharpening a blade will cause tension in the edge resulting in carbides trying to reach a state of relaxation? You see this same effect in bearings.
