Absolutely. In fact it would be interesting to hear if anyone can actually justify that oft-quoted claim from their direct experience. I've seen plenty to contradict it.

Re: Do you immediately sharpen a new Spyderco?
Always. I've never received a new knife (or wood working tool) that I'd consider sharp. I must admit to some disappointment when my first Spyderco was not sharp out of the box, given all the posts about receiving their's "shaving sharp". However now I just assume that's a little bit of exa...

Re: AEB-L Urban Performance Reviews
In which ways? I guess I'm seeing a lot of interest in AEB-L but it's not clear what exact advantages it gives. Or more to the point if someone already has the Urban in Elmax and in K390, what's missing if they pass on the AEB-L?

Re: Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?
I agree, for example back when I had a dedicated filleting knife it was a cheap kitchen knife with a rounded tip and not particularly sharp edge.crazywednesday wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 12:28 amOver the years I have realized that people have different interpretations of what it means to fillet a fish.

Re: UKPK: Drop point or Leaf?
One criticism of the leaf is that the point could become exposed when closed after several sharpenings. Anyone know if the drop point has the same potential or is better? As a matter of fact the drop point actually curves up more than the leaf. The point is actually less "dropped". So in ...

Re: UKPK: Drop point or Leaf?
Interesting poll results so far. I noticed that all UKPK specials so far have only been made in Leaf, so I had assumed that was the best selling shape. I very much prefer Drop and for that reason I almost passed on the HH special.

Re: G10 UKPK officially makes a return! Heinnie Haynes Exclusive
I think they should do one in a different color and steel rather than rerunning the red/s30v. grey g10 with Cruwear would be a hit i bet. As I understand it this is a deal exclusive, giving them the continuing right to reorder batches of this exact design. I would guess that changes in steel or col...

Were the current Mules all made in the US, or were they made in the country where that particular steel is most readily available?

Re: Tip up or tip down carry
By the way, when you guys say "tip down" or up, are you referring to where the tip points in it's folded state, or where it would be if you stuck the knife in your pocket unfolded? Thanks.

Re: Coyote Urban update?
OK it's coming back to me, there was an idea to produce something with a 2.75" blade to go between Urban and UKPK, and a further suggestion to downsize the Urban to 2.5".

Re: New Spyder Knife, need sharpening?
None of my Spydercos have come sharp from the factory. Some needed their bevels reset, others just needed a touch up to get the edge I wanted. For any tool or knife I expect to give it a few sharpenings before it settles down.

Re: UKPK - Cut Down Leaf to Drop Point
Cheers everyone. My preference is partly aesthetic, I prefer the look of a slimmer blade, and partly public relations in that the wider leaf blade looks more threatening as it's so different from everyday knives. I'm not sure I'm convinced by the functional arguments, for example carving knives and ...

UKPK - Cut Down Leaf to Drop Point
Hi, Just a thought, maybe completely impractical but prompted by the UKPK options produced or speculated about in leaf and not drop point format. Is there any reason why an end user couldn't reshape the back of a leaf blade to match the profile of the drop point? I've not compared them first hand, i...

Re: Please help a British Bobby find his knife!
Hi, I don't think anyone's specifically mentioned sharpening gear, but I recommend that you get something at the very least to touch up these edges. You may have this covered of course, but I'm just aware that we're discussing pretty fancy steel's that won't be that easy to sharpen say with conventi...
