Re: Spyderco Lil' Native SLIPIT (unusual friction when opening and closing 1/4 ")

Just reviving this thread in case others who have this issue too...I had this roughness also in my Seconds LN Slipit... I added one drop of KPL lube on each pivot (didn't have to open the knife, just a drop in each of the small gap between the G10 and blade pivot). It's now enjoyably smooth to open ...

Re: Byrd Tern: First Impressions

Thanks to the Seconds Sale, I got my first Byrd, and I believe I couldn't get a better model. I'm impressed! https://i.ibb.co/5ckR3zq/IMG-20230823-143757-01.jpg The only bad things about this is the very stiff slipjoint lock...I can't close it one handed, impossible unless I want to bleed on the jim...

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores

Nice haul! Thanks! Here's the whole spread. Honestly, I can't even find any major defect in any of these. If I'm being critical, it the only qc issues I could find are the snaggletooth in the Ayoob, but to be honest, I don't think it looks bad...and the very hard slipjoint lock on the Terns. One ha...

Re: The Pre-Diver, Dive Probe, and Mini-Probe!

I'm guessing this is from Jeff of Cutlery Shoppe's collection? He has been unloading some rare ones these past days. Good catch! They seem to be in pristine condition for knives that are several years old.

PE in stock at Ridgerunner Blades: https://ridgerunnerblades.com/product/spyderco-ayoob/ Have to start saving my pennies!!! I will pick one up if they are still in stock when I get some income flowing in. Might be landing a part-time job at Amazon. Took my drug test and since I don't do drugs of an...

I use my Sharpmaker with all our kitchen knives too, but for fast reprofiling and edge repair, I think you should look elsewhere.

Re: River's Edge Cutlery Mystery Exclusive - 8/14/23

Well... kinda disappointed that it's the last batch of the LNs that they had released about 2 years ago, but the "Lil Nate" sticker should have been a dead giveaway. Now kinda debating if I should get one as a backup to my original release REC LN, or to pass. For those on the fence, this i...

Re: River's Edge Cutlery Mystery Exclusive - 8/14/23

A military 2 would break the internet. That would be quite the spectacle!! An incredible way to welcome that knife. Didn't REC say before in the past that they would re-release some of their models? I feel like I've seen something about that around here before. If so, lil Native would sound about r...

River's Edge Cutlery Mystery Exclusive - 8/14/23

Looks like River's Edge Cutlery will be unveiling another exclusive on 8/14/23, based on their Green/yellow/brown colorway (I dislike calling it Avocado, but it's their semi-official name for their exclusive line). No details yet, but so far this line has only had Spydercos so it's a strong possibil...

Re: 2024 Official Discontinued List

Kind of sad to see so many K390 models getting the axe as well. I love K390 & hoped to see it get wider adoption in the knife community as I think it is the best non-stainless high wear resistance tool steel for a folding knife (yes, even better than my beloved Cru-Wear and M4). But non-stainle...

Re: New to Spyderco and have a Para 3, just had it open and bite me while in pocket

Sorry it had to happen to you! That's a head-scratcher for sure.

I don't combine keys, coins and other metal objects with a knife in the same pocket... not for safety reasons, but rather, to prevent these from scratching and making marks on the exposed blade part, especially the spine :rofl

Re: Warranties, Forum Etiquette, and a Thank You

With the advent of Facebook groups, I'd rather welcome new members and excessive, repetitive questions if it will ensure the survival of the forum format. I'm a member of a few FB groups too, but sometimes I take long breaks from them because sometimes too much nonsensical posts and unwanted, unnece...

Re: Warranties, Forum Etiquette, and a Thank You

Also a new guy here of only a few months, but a VERY old member of several other forums. In such a role I have to frequently remind myself of something I was told as a young parent (my kids are 36 now): be careful never to kill their spirit. Kids look up to you as a parent and if you beat down thei...
