Re: Delica 5
and, Mr.Shabazz, what if it were made in China? At a lower price, with Spyderco supervising a tight QC, materials and a good final product? Dangerously close to the Byrd line and conflicting with the budget offerings (Ambitious, Tenacious...) or not a problem  I'd like to hear your opinio...

Re: Delica 5
If the Delica 5 becomes a thing, I rather hope it's made in the USA or in Taichung factories where better value seems possible, so that the price can either drop back closer to where it was, or at the very least, the base model steel can rise up to match the new price tag. Also, I'd love to see a me...

Re: FRN Delica 4 vs new FRN Chapperal
They're very different knives in terms of ergonomics, and the Chappie blade is really thin, which is great for most, bad for some (and in the case of the backlock, bad for thumbs). But that said, with the Delica price hike bringing it within spitting distance, and with the Chaparral's improved fit-a...

Re: Blown away by Sharpmaker
Nick and I are big KME fans (last he said on YouTube). The Sharpmaker is great for maintaining a sweet edge, for sure. Yup, the KME is great for reprofiling or rehabbing a deeply dull knife, but if I get something in or realize a favorite is dull and just needs to be stupid sharp *now*, the Sharpma...

Re: Blown away by Sharpmaker
It's a very nice tool for keeping a sharp knife very sharp, and one that I still find myself using on a regular basis.

Re: Where is the new, improved Advocate?
In the long line of things worth freaking out about, the Advocate/Thin Washer issue is pretty low. In all the Spyderco Flippers I had with that setup, I never experienced a problem, and I've done a lot of disassembling and reassembling, so I've seen a fair number. Certainly the new design is more ro...

Re: Sleipner?
It's a BU steel, not proprietary to LionSteel http://www.bucanada.ca/sleipner_c.htm Edit: found a poat on BF by Gianni at LionSteel from 2014 saying BU was producing it at 8mm thickness and that they had to do a special rolling order to get it in the right thickness for the SR1 and couldn't do it f...

Re: Shot Show surprises
Man, I'm glad Spyderco brought the SHOT show heat. Put me down for a Smock, a Techno 2 and a Brouwer for sure. The Custom SK23 was great, and the button compression lock is a wonderful idea, that I hope Spyderco uses more.

Re: Too early to be excited for SHOT Show?
KnifeNews has plans to cover SHOT, and I'm hoping to borrow some of their content to drop a few "new for 2018" videos (full disclosure, I've done work for KnifeNews in the past). As for what I'm hoping for, I'm hoping to see Spyderco drop something on the higher end. They killed much of th...

Re: Chaparral LW Collecting
It really is a great knife. And shockingly, given that the Delica is up to $75, and the Chaparral FRN is $90, it's a potential Delica-killer for many people. The fit-and-finish and materials improvements are *way* more than $15 worth of difference, not to mention the sliceyness. If Japanese Spyderco...

Re: Sal, Mike Janich, would it be too forward?
Spyderco doesn't bend lockbars, instead, they just load the frame into a vise and Michael Janich just stares at them until they try to run away.

Has Spyderco released a SpyderEdge knife in LC200N, yet?

Re: MAP policy change? 35%
No matter your feelings on the price hike, I respect the heck out of Sal for staying in this thread, and talking rationally about the issues in play here. It's a smart business move, to work to explain a (seemingly unpopular) decision, treating critics who are acting like rational adults like ration...

Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
To Sal's question about whether LC200N desire == "Salt" knife desire, I don't think so. I think LC200N is a great 'all-arounder' steel, with favorable characteristics for use and sharpening and performance even in the desert, and the advantage that it can be 'driven hard and put to bed wet...

Re: LC200N Pacific Salt
LC200N is one of the best EDC steels around right now, so additional availability in other models will be great. And a lightweight, LC200N Delica-ish knife? Oh yeah.

Re: Love to see in frn, any others?
I want to see Spyderco make a new generation of the original Worker, with a FRN handle. Please, sal, please :) I'd love this too. The Worker's a part of history, and I'd love to see it periodically pulled back. This is a bit odd, but I'd *love* to see an FRN Spydiechef. With the LC200N, it'd be a n...
