Re: Lil' Nilakka Sharpening

Just sharpened mine, pretty much as I do other knives. Cut of old edge, shape with extra-coarse DMT, and refine and finish with diamond side of the Fallkniven DC4. The finished edge could split a head hair.

Re: Lil' Nilakka Sharpening

I have not really sharpened mine. Only checked for a wire edge with a few light passes on the diamond side of my Fallkniven DC4. Nemo wrote a pease about his experiences with is Lil'Nilakka HERE.

I got one at the Spyderco meet. Very good quality. Smooth action, centred blade, excellent fit and finish.

Re: Sharpening CTS204P at low edge angles

Thanks for explaining the hows and the ways of your sharpening philosophy Vivi! I have no experience with CTS204P so I can not help you there. I do how ever, like you, thin out the edges of my knives to improve the cutting ability. It makes using the knives more secure and enjoyable! Looking forward...

I think knife maker Joe Calton shows the basics very well in his video's. Master that and take it from there.

Re: Sal, what are the chances for a AEB-L spydie ?

IIRC AEB-L is fairly close to 12C27 or 13C26 and remember Kershaw using them a lot, but not anymore and wondering why? AEB-L = 13c26 but from a different manufacturer. Kershaw ran there 13c26 much to soft for high performance. AEB-L can easily be hardend into the lower sixties Hrc. 61-63Hrc is not ...

Re: Sal, what are the chances for a AEB-L spydie ?

Low carbine steels work well for me. I have not used AEB-L myself but have read that it is one of the best. It is used in the industry as a razor steel!

Devin Thomas, the damascus smith, has as a high opinion of this steel as you can read HERE.

Re: Super Blue Manbug

G'day JD, These little razors make exceptional small game knives. Don't let the knife's diminutive size trick you. I used a ZDP to take a fox tail last weekend and dress a couple of rabbits. The knife seems tailored to the task. I'm sure you'll love it any way you use it. Thanks! Seems like it is w...
