Re: What do you view as the main grip on these types of knives?

I don’t use the choils much. I like more edge. For a main grip, I tend to basically pinch the handle between the side of my thumb and palm/base of index finger. When you choke up onto a finger choil, there is no handle to pinch and I think this is why I don’t use that grip. I also prefer the edge t...

Re: Magnacut Paramilitary 2

I like the fishbone ideas. It also reminds me of some past Byrd patterns, which I’m fairly fond of. Especially this one of mine and some previous FRN texturing too. https://i.postimg.cc/8kBdZ0Jd/13-D58-BDA-D5-E1-450-D-B700-62-EFC8-FA6-E2-D.jpg That old Raven has an aluminum handle which reminded me ...

Re: Crucarta Manix XL

I’ve always wondered why this model was passed by for variations like the Rex45 sprints.
Crucarta will be full production, so I’m glad I’ll have the chance to get one on my own pace.

Re: Bodacious Discussion

I’m sure I’ll end up with one, because I love the no-choil design, the choice of pocket clip, Golden manufacturing, etc. I seem to like Golden made Compression Locks a lot. Depending on the timing of things like releases and the contents of future reveals, I might wait for a different version (hopef...

Haven’t had time to be on the forum much this week, until now.

What a set of knives!
Sweet sharpening options too!

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I’ve learned a good bit from this “laser focused” discussion already. Thanks for sharing these insights and asking questions y’all. I recently started using and sharpening this knife. I’m still making mistakes, but I’m getting better at actually seeing what these mistakes are doing to my edge, thank...

I mean, I imagine the reveal is coming soon. Could be wrong, though. i'm looking forward to it, but i honestly don't care when it comes. i just don't care for the tease. this thread was really meant to be all in good fun. Nah, it doesn’t bother me so much. I’m just getting sarcastic and ended up ty...

Re: Byrd Comet Hole

I’ve found it to be just fine. It is a slightly different feel, but I’ve gotten used to it. I did just think of something, though. Normally, I like a decently crisp opening hole because of its reliability, but I would not mind if the narrower “tail” part of the Comet shaped hole had a chamfer. That ...

Re: Reveal 14 teaser from September's byte

We’re seeing knives get BD1N, Spy27, and sometimes S110V, as base steels already. This is the case (or will be soon) on the Para 3 Lightweight, UKPK lightweight, Native Chief lightweight, and Manix 2 lightweight. The UKPK is coming in at $98 The Native 5 lightweight is the only one of the bunch that...

Re: Are We Witnessing The Death Knell of K390 In Production Folders?

I probably could have made my post more clear! Like it has been established, it’s a ClipiTool Rescue. However, I have significantly modified mine to remove the extra tools it comes with. It’s kinda janky, but it locks up. I’ve been meaning to take some illustrative pictures and video. It would be so...

Re: Para 3 - anyone else wish the blade stock was thinner?

I think the current blade stock is fine, given the significant distal taper of its flat grind. If the grind was like the Shaman (delayed and mellow distal taper), I would rather it be much thinner stock, or prefer the thickness behind the edge significantly reduced to at or below ~0.010-0.015 of an ...

Re: Are We Witnessing The Death Knell of K390 In Production Folders?

The Wharncliffe Paramilitary 2 is Spyderco’s best “in house” one, in my opinion. At least, as a shape for your general use EDC. The Yojimbo family is obviously a bit more specialized and the delica style is extremely versatile in function. The wharny PM2 is just right, though. However, I can’t reall...

Re: XL knives to look forward to

My curiosity also gets me all of the time. A while ago, maybe around the time it was first mentioned on the forum, I had the urge to sketch what I thought a bigger LT3 would look like because the Lil’Temperances’ form includes a number of unique features that I would really appreciate on a larger kn...
