Re: Talking about your traditional knives

As much as I like GEC, I’ve acquired a number of other brands. Here is my Queen made Trestle Pine Knives “Topper”. It is one of my most carried, if you’ve seen some of my other posts you’ll know I’ve got a thing for caplifters. When I got it, I really should have sent it back. The blade and lifter w...

This is getting a lot of negative attention on BF, but I’m actually looking forward to this one!

Re: Showing how much a butcher sharpens steel off a blade

My late fathers old “roast beef knife”. He used it nearly every Sunday to slice the roast. He almost always took it downstairs to his 1/2hp coarse grinding wheel first. The blade used to be more than twice the height. After he past, I decided to see if I could put new life to it. Reshaped the blade,...

Re: Show your mods!

Love this knife! Wanted to dress her up a bit though. Found a local shop that could laser engrave the design I came up with. Found a nice Ukrainian embroidery pattern, then added a bug into the design. (look closely). I brought my Mantra for them to test to see what setting to put the laser at so I ...

Re: Thicker "harduse" bladestocks / fine tips.. and more - I don´t fully get it

I’ll give a couple examples of what I consider hard use and the knives I used. I used my GEC 15 sheeps foot to cut through a lot of thick, (3/4”) recycled tire rubber mats. They even have some small bits of metal in them still. The thin blade worked quite well but a larger handle would have been nic...

Re: Cruwear, I like!

I love Cruwear, easy to sharpen, easy to keep sharp with touching up on my DoubleStuff, holds a great edge, doesn’t chip or roll easily. The only thing is it can start to rust a bit, noticeable more on my PM2 than my Manix2 for some reason. Even moreso on my Bark River but my Enigma Knives slipjoin...

Re: Unpopular opinions

I dislike the wire clip No love here for blacked out blades S30v is a perfectly good steel I would choose just about any steel before S110v, yes even 8cr13mov! Not a big fan of carbon fibre scales... Except for the cf over g10, that stuff is great! Looks decent, plenty of grip with a nice feel Backl...

Re: First Impressions of SPY27 Steel

Had my spy27para3 for a few weeks now. Used for my typical edc tasks, packages, cardboard for recycling, kitchen, light yard work, nothing particularly heavy but stuff that left my 110v an utter chipped mess and turned my vg10 into a butter knife in similar amount of time. Steels like s30v, 35vn, d2...

Re: Lynch Northwest Wire Clip Replacement Deep Carry Clip

Forgive me for saying that I hope never to shake your hand. 165 pounds grip? I'm guessing that a gorilla wouldn't want to measure grip strength against you. Lol! Funny thing is I’m not a big guy, 5’8” 190lbs. But hand strength runs in my family. For example, We discovered way back when my sister wa...
