I gifted the Native 5 LW and he loves it. Even more impressive is that he isn't a knife guy, uses the knife daily at work on a farm, and hasn't chipped the S90v edge.
I also think a Chaparral makes a great gift knife.

Re: Been dying to get one of these GEC #71 Bull Nose
I got into GEC knives back when their stuff would sit on shelves for months. Now their stuff sells out almost the day it is released. I still have a few of their knives. A good chunk of the ones I had I sold at a nice profit. They're well-made knives and a good deal for the asking price. I've been ...

Re: Been dying to get one of these GEC #71 Bull Nose
I sold mine of that same one and regret it. Still have my black micarta one. One of the best EDC slip joints. Very stiff backspring on my examples. Cuts great.

Re: Head Shaving Clippers
Been shaving my head for about 20 years or more now. Mine started falling out when I was about 19 or so and I had shaved it off before and knew what I looked like and didn't mind it so I just leaned into it instead of having the existential crisis most guys go through. Now only people I grew up wit...

Head Shaving Clippers
Shaved my head today. A spur of the moment sort of thing. Really like it. My clippers are pretty cheap but didn't do a terrible job. I've seen advertisements for some meant for shaving the head specifically. Looks like something you roll around your scalp. Are those any good? Do any of you who shave...

Saber Grind looks cooler. I'd buy the standard ffg.

Re: Spyderco PITS Folder (Pie In The Sky)
Since I have been apparently living under a rock … I am super excited to hear that there will be a new run. I understand that it will beba little longer until we get it, but that is fine. For me it means that I am going to stay with my N690co Urban for now and not get the salty UKPK, because someth...

Re: Blade Geometry - Is an Endura Wave Wharncliffe feasible?
I think they could take the current Endura wave and just alter the blade shape. I might be wrong. You could also buy one and grind it into a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot. Would be shorter though!

That's the handle material Chris Reeve used on the Sikayo. If you need a reference picture. I like the look but idk about the feel (haven't touched it)

Brisa Birk 75 - S30V, full flat ground, curly birch scales, made in Finland. I've always wanted to check one of these out.. real simple, smooth lines, you can definitely see that Scandinavian influence.. seems like a really solid deal at $125. Should be here next week! I've got the slip joint versi...

Was thinking about trying that with a couple knives (1095). How long did it take with the file?

Re: best unique vg10 model?
Get yourself a stainless Harpy while you still can. Stainless steel construction, very solid, rigid, just built like a small tank! VG-10. Hawkbill. Serrated. These 4 features could cover a lot of firsts for some guys, besides Hannibal would never steer you wrong! ;) Is it slick? I've got a stainles...

Re: How much balance matters when it comes to knives ?
I'm not concerned with pocket knives. Especially small ones. I agree that handle heavy helps to feel agile and that's nice on pocket knives. Don't mind neutral balance where the index finger rests. I think it's just not one of those things I think about. I guess YouTube reviewers haven't taught me t...

Re: Just cuts
Curious. For hair splitting just screaming sharp. H1 in PE vs LC200N in PE? About half the time I use a knife ai am making a single cut. Which steel gets sharper with less effort. Trying to keep it simple, SM only. There's better people to answer and I'm sure they will, but H1 will sharpen easier. ...

Re: What are yr favorite knives for yardwork, gardening?
My Native 5 Lw with serrations. I had a Tasman I loved but alas that was my practice knife for sharpening serrations and I'm afraid I ruined it. All the better for my serrated knives now though!
