Re: The negative blade angle wharncliffe that I wish existed

On the one hand thats pretty cool. Congrats on all the work you put into it. On the other hand have you used an endura 4 wharncliffe? Its a big wharncliffe folder with a negative blade angle. The blade angle isnt quite as negative as your design, but it is more negative than it looks, especially if ...

Re: Help me pick my new Spyderco knife.

Chief. Or a police 4 k390. I try to like the manix 2 xl but its hard to love. Its amazing for hard use/ borderline abuse, but I dont like it in edc capacity. Its big, heavy, and a pocket hog. I do think the lock on it does not work as well with the bigger handle. Im not going to call it difficult t...

Re: Help me pick my new Spyderco knife.

vivi I don’t know if you have the answer but... is the lock any more difficult to disengage on the XL than the regular sized Manix 2 light weight? (Edit for typo) Not in my experience. All my caged ball lock knives started out just a bit stiff to unlock, but broke in nicely within a month. Much lik...

Re: Could use some Advice

Interesting. Thank you for pointing that out. Does changing out the scales yourself affect the integrity of the knife? How difficult for a first timer? Never disassembled a PM 2 myself, but it should be not too difficult. I hear people say though that removing the lanyard-tube can be a bit tricky I...

Re: Warped handle on FRN rex 45 manix 2

Well I am certainly not looking for them to replace the whole knife. But I definitely expected the FRN to be stronger on a knife of that cost. I could understand if I was jogging and it ripped out of my pocket but I was literally walking softly past my kids bed in effort to not wake him when if sna...

Re: Warped handle on FRN rex 45 manix 2

I saw a barrel bolt clip mangle the rear end of a pacific salt once from the same thing. Had to switch it to the other side. As far as solutions go... 1. Warranty 2. Switch clip sides 3. You could try to cut the original grooves deeper with a file or sometging but you would need to careful and you c...

Re: Lifespan of Backlocks?

My old Endura trainer's backlock was defeated by peanut butter. I wrote up a review years ago as my Spyderco PBJ. After a couple years of stirring peanut butter the lock failed constantly and I had to retire it. ??? Did the lock actually fail or get worn out? If so how does peanut butter have anyth...

Re: Extreme LC200N (Accidental) Corrosion Test

Theres no titanium in the caribbean that Im aware of. The hardware and liners should be some level of stainless. Im sure galvanic reactions still made this worse. I will bet the lockbar did just rust and break though. H1 and lc200n hold up pretty well. Even if you somehow force rust to transfer onto...

Re: How Do Your Factory Seconds Look?

PS, warning to the other new Parata owners in here: don’t fling the blade shut with the lock disengaged. The edge can hit the spacers. I stupidly put a little chip in my edge doing this. I watched Nick Shabazz disassembly video of the Parata. Ha had a production version but said he had a preproduct...

Re: How Do Your Factory Seconds Look?

I got mine. The z-cut seems fine. I think they really just didnt have packaging. My native 5 lightweight ce is perfect. I cant tell anything thats wrong with it. There was some residue on the blade from tape or a sticker, not the seconds sticker, it looks like there was another sticker on it before....
