Dirks and daggers are banned by name and description just about anywhere in the US, with few exceptions.
I actually didn’t know that. That seems like a good enough reason to give up on the idea tbh.

Why wouldn't you like S30V if you're only planning to eventually maybe stab a would be attacker in the woods?
I don’t totally trust s30v not to shatter in a blade that thin. And jeez you don’t have to put it that way, it would mostly be to protect against animal attacks on longer treks.

Re: A Spyderco piercing knife…?

But most importantly, do you have any training in armed or unarmed self defense? If you’re not trained in the use of a knife, you shouldn’t in a million years consider it an effective tool for you. You’re just as likely to get killed while struggling to get the weapon into the fight, and even then ...

Re: A Spyderco piercing knife…?

The Nightstick is actually surprisingly thin and a very sleek design. It really seems like it could be a good alternative to what you're looking for. I know someone that has put a real edge on the false edge of the Nightstick and made it plenty capable for real world use. ;) The knife you're reques...

A Spyderco piercing knife…?

It’s come to my attention that this would be somewhat illegal to have or use. So it’s fair to say this whole idea is a wash, thanks for the feedback! I saw this photo on Serge Panchenko’s insta story just now: https://i.postimg.cc/6T5dJzfJ/444-D07-F0-7-D80-486-A-AD99-5451-BF75-CE9-C.png and it got ...

Re: Should the Kiwi 4 get a Sprint?

I get excited every time I see the kiwi get mentioned here. My top material choice would be contoured micarta with something simple like cts-xhp, although something tough like cru-wear would be nice too. But I’ll take any combo. I’ve wanted this model in my collection since I first started collectin...

Re: Small knife with satisfying action

Oh man am I too late? Because…

Rhino !!! Rhino !!! Rhino !!!

It may need a little work when you first get it, polishing washers, etc. But oh man is it snappy. The Lil’ Native is, fine… But the funkier option is always the best one.

Re: Mystery DLT Exclusive

No dimples, very yes! Cru-Wear, yeah! Coating, uh I suppose! Green g10, ok! 315 bucks, oh no!

I just can’t do this one. The tuff is a user, but with its sprint-itude and its price point I just can’t justify getting it to use. 3V is better for banging into things anyways. I’ll buy another fixed blade.

Always a little surprised spyderco employees don’t chime in more often here in this thread. It would be a great way to keep people updated on production schedules, delays, etc.

Although, if any dealers are listening, I would jump on a subvert if it came in a tool steel.
I’ll second this and add that a salt version would be nice too :)

Re: Mystery DLT Exclusive

Those dimples are not so flattering… What's worse about the dimples is how amazing the prototype was. https://spydercollector.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/spyderco_amsterdammeet2011_prototype_tuff_clip.jpg Whoa! They could even use the Waterway’s diamond g10 pattern to mirror it! What a missed oppor...

Re: Mystery DLT Exclusive

I do like the Tuff, just hope they’d smooth out the scales if they gave that one the purple g10 + coated CruWear treatment. Those dimples are not so flattering…

Although someone suggested a battlestation, if that gets done with the purple g10 + coated CruWear treatment I’d snatch it up immediately.

Re: Can we please get some kind of update/estimate on the Heinnie UKPK?

My guess is it’ll come around along side the lc200n ukpk, since the tooling will be up and running.

That’s perfect for me though since I was planning on doing a blade swap anyways. Still waiting on this one, patiently as always.

Re: Tool Steel Regular Production Folder Option

Most of the US made Spyderco G-10 models had S30V for the longest time. Native5 was the exception for quite a while with S35VN and then a few years ago it also became S30V. Then, recently a move from S30V to S45VN or SPY27. If these models move to MagnaCut it may obviate the need for a tool steel o...
