Re: How do you sharpen a serrated knife
This is the simplest and most reliable method: https://youtu.be/dgFJPv5M4nw?t=711 But there's no need for a wheel, you can easily sharpen serrations by hand on a Benchstone. Do all the grinding on the flat side and only de-burr the inside of the scallops with a fine rod or strop. This is the only m...

Re: Steels you won't buy...and why
S30V.
I think what put me off of it most is at the time it came out we were also being introduced to S90V and ZDP-189 and S30V only seems like a compromise in comparison.
Out of nearly a hundred knives in the history of my collection I think I've owned less than five S30V blades.

Re: Will there be a MagnaCut backlash?
It's human nature, after expecting something wonderful and new, to be disappointed with the reality, which is never as perfect as the mind can imagine. Do you think we will see a MagnaCut backlash after it's widely available? If not a backlash, perhas a lot of "meh" or "I've seen bet...

Re: Let's talk about cutting edge vs blade length
Choils are fine, we just need more 5" blades.
Also, without a Choil I would prefer the knife have a Flipper.
Regardless of what you think of lock safety, it is nice to have some area of the blade that won't cut your finger off when closing.

Re: Police 4 K390 SE Testing Log
If you only sharpen the serrations on the backside with a Benchstone the original grind pattern of the serrations would be kept for the entire life of the knife. In my opinion the only correct way to sharpen serrations is with a Benchstone and then just de-bur with a rod, you always keep the origin...

Re: Police 4 K390 SE Testing Log
wouldn't those grind lines add to the toothiness of the edge? seems like micro serrations. You are correct. Which means potentially this knife may perform better with the factory edge than any time after sharpening it, if those micro serrations add to cutting performance. https://live.staticflickr....

Re: Poll: Would You Buy a K390 Military, Featuring Green Canvas Micarta and a Titanium Reeve Integral Lock?
I only voted "No" because the Military isn't big enough. Your Spydie-choices are rather limited then... :smirk Indeed, after about a decade of waiting for a 5" FFG folder and seeing nothing I generally gave up collecting Spyderco. The Police 4 in Full SE is one of the first knives in...

Re: Big honkin serrated blade
I'm still waiting on the Full SE Police 4.
I had a Full SE ZDP-189 Endura and it was fantastic, in general I just prefer larger knives though. The Police 4 should just barely make the cut for an acceptable size (versus my regular 6" EDC).

Re: What scale color for the upcoming MagnaCut sprint?
I'd like to see the return of British Racing Green, as was also used for some of the first ZDP-189 models (now I remember the very first ZDP Caly 3 was a burgundy, but I'm partial to BRG).

Re: I will now EDC a Jumpmaster 2 for 1 year
/ Largest full SE Spydie so far? Police? Millie? I think of all knives folding and fixed it's probably the Aqua Salt at 4.40 inch edge length. For folders I believe the Resilience will be the longest at 4.25 inch. Current longest folder is probably the stainless Police but apparently that one is on...

Re: There is a massive showdown coming..
Every time I think back to when I had a wall covered in knives, one of the models I remember most fondly is the ZDP-189 Full SE Endura. SE+High Alloy Steel is an awesome combo, Serrations already make your edge last a long time so combining that with Super Steel gives a blade amazing longevity. And ...

Re: I’m kind of sad
I bought the Mini Manix back when it came out and then gave it to a friend for his wedding.
The feel of that knife in hand was pretty special.
Can't say I wouldn't want another.
(That said I still want a Maxamet Yojumbo more than anything.)

Re: What's your favorite large Spyderco folder?
It's always puzzled me how Spyderco can have half a dozen folders over 4" but never anything over 5" (I know we had the Tatanka, but that was somewhat of an ill conceived design. My favorite 6" folders are still primarily designed for slicing). Right now I'd take a 5" Super Yojim...

Re: I will now EDC a Jumpmaster 2 for 1 year
Scary that the Police 4 only has 2mm less edge length than the Jumpmaster. Can't wait for the Full SE K390 Police 4. Don´t forget the upcoming S35VN Resilience SE... actually 4mm MORE edge length than the Jumpmaster and still a more compact carry than the Police (11 mm shorter when closed). Trading...
