Today I’m carrying a serrated black ATR, Fällkniven U-2, Rainbow Chive, and the Catcherman, which I used to eat pancakes and sausage this morning.

If I could only have one knife for the rest of my life I’d get a Custom Darrel Ralph Aftermath with a 7 inch BG-42 blade and Mother of Pearl inlays.
If it’s going to be the only one, it’s going to be the best.

I carry the Catcherman more often than any other knife. I have a small selection of knives to use for utility, but the Catcherman is my only food knife. It’s always with me.

What brings me to Spyderco?
Initially the original designs, (Cricket)
Then the technology, (ZDP-189)
And most recently the integrity, I’ve never seen Spyderco misdirect, or disrespect anyone.

Well I found some new information on CPM S125V. It seems that it can be rolled, though only very roughly. Here’s some links. Comments from Phil Wilson http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3611868&postcount=37 Comment from Sal http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=396349

The Next big thing on my list (after getting a knife in CPM M-4) is CPM S125V. Sal has been trying to do a sprint run with it, but the steel is so hard it can’t be rolled into a usable form (Normally steel is rolled down to refine and align the grain structure, here I have a feeling they just want t...

Zac, good news! The up coming Spyderco Tuff (working name) is going to be done in CPM 3V (with titanium handle and compression lock). It’s being designed by Ed Schempp, apparently with prying in mind (Being a Spyderco it should cut well too). Native Justice, forget S90V. Sal is trying to do a sprint...

Here’s some charts showing wear resistance and toughness.
As you can see, CPM M-4 has almost double the impact toughness of D-2.

Who wants a CPM M-4 sprint run?

Sal mentioned that if we could come to a consensus on blade steel he’d look into doing a sprint run. (post #7) http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24602 I want to see a sprint run in CPM M-4. CPM M-4 is one of the best all around steel types right now. After using M-2 for more than a year, I...

Sal, CPM M-4 on anything with an adjustable pivot (preferably the Chinook or Manix).

Padawan, If you don’t mind it being a fixed blade, Spyderco is already planning a traditional European bush knife in 52-100.

He said CPM-M4! Yes! The Superhawk would be an excellent choice for the first production knife to feature M4. Especially if it were to come out in the near future!

I like the Idea of Spyderco kits for two reasons. 1. I take everything apart anyway, this would save me time. 2. it would make importing to Canada easier, you can’t flick open a knife that is not assembled.

I have an SS ATR and I would say it’s a pretty good hard use knife. However, if I were to pick between the two for EDC, I would probably prefer the stretch. I’m starting to appreciate a good flat grind more and more.

Here’s a chart from Crucible.

it’s about the same as D-2, which is pretty good considering the amount of wear resistance you get.

I would suggest exercising caution. Right now 95% (technically 100%) of the folding knives in Canada are illegal. The law states (amongst other things) that if a knife can be opened by centrifugal force it is a prohibited weapon. It isn’t often you find a knife that can’t be flicked open now days, n...

A selection of extra large knives would be a dream come true for me. If we could see five inch versions of the Manix and Chinook (How about a six inch Military? And Civilian! And Endura!), that would fill a place in both my pocket and heart.
