this was on the edge, not the actual tip... Now I understand it his something else very hard (the item is very hard, not the force at which it hit... wasn't a long fall IMO) but still didn't think a "super steel" would chip that easy. I've had to file down the tip some to smooth it and the...

You have already received plenty of good advice. However, I will add my .02 anyway. Simply put, the Native is a time-tested design that will do anything you could reasonably expect an under 3" knife to do. It carries and handles with the best. You will not go wrong with a Native. Unless your h...

ZDP - Wow its brittle!

I know I read somewhere on here that for hardness you sacrifice a bit as the steel can be more brittle, but wow, didn't think it would be that noticeable in my Spyderco ZDP Endura :( I dropped my knife and it hit another metal tool, and the tip lost a nice chunk (The tip was still there, it was the ...

My Tasman Salt feels very sturdy to me... don't have any others to compare to, but considering getting an Atlantic Salt.

I would tend to agree... as I said, I have 6 knives with no play, that I can detect, which leads me to believe your statement is very true!

Anything harsher and i'd just pull out a carpet knife. Why? Spydie knives will hold up...you bought it to use, so do so :) I'll cut anything that needs to be separated from its self/something. As for angles, I think the Sal video for the SM said Spydie knives have a 30 then 40 micro-bevel (I think ...

Also note that the H1 steel needs time to harden (which happens with use and resharpening). So the SE blade with holds its edge (due to the process it goes through to get the Spidie edge) longer than a PE blade until the PE has been resharpened a number of times (no idea how long that is, just reite...

Don't get me wrong... the SM works fine on serrations... but I found that they work best on a semi-sharp SE knife...while a very very dull one requires a bit more to get it back to "scary sharp". Why I got some 704 stones, and love them for my SE knives... they don't fit in the SM (which w...

I use the 704 rounded rods and rest them on the SM rods to get close to the 20 deg angle, and it worked Great! I couldn't get it done with just the corners of the SM rods like Sal shows in the DVD. The SM works great on kitchen knives, but couldn't get it to work well on the spidie edge (now this wa...

We should have a sticky post, or an FAQ section as we see this question and some others repeated (even I'm guilty of that... the search sometimes works, but not all the time).

I'm not sure why people are arguing tip up/tip down is easier or not... it all boils down to practice and preference due to what you are use to... I started with an original Endura so only ever had one option for carry for years... so guess what, I now prefer tip up right hand pocket. I'm very fast ...

I've never had an issues; however, I don't typically dunk the knife in the water, just put the blade under the tap and/or use a sponge to wipe off whatever it is I'm trying to get.
