Re: This is a Reconnaissance Mission

I have 3 of them, it's probably my overall favorite knife Spyderco makes. I think I favor the 1 over the 2, and my dream knife would be a 1 with just little bit of belly to the blade. I also have taken the safeties off of mine. I look at it the same way as I look at gun safeties, the only safety is ...

Re: 52100 Native Chief?

I've been using my 52100 Military for the last week for my "gonna carry a Military 1 until the Military 2 drops" marathon. It's a decent user steel. Today it got forced into some paint masking tape trimming which involved cutting the tape against a cinder block wall that fortunately has be...

Re: product idea: Spyderco folding wood saw

Seems like the capacity argument is being made a lot these days. Sal has said that at any time they have around 100 models in development, I don't think making one of those 99 a saw or whatever other knife idea that gets pitched is the end of the world. There will still be plenty of capacity to mak...

Re: product idea: Spyderco folding wood saw

Just throwing it out there....if we handled everything with the mentality of "why would I buy that when this exists" there is a very good chance this forum wouldn't exist and we wouldn't be knife enthusiasts since there is usually a better tool for any job a pocket knife can be used for. ...

Re: CPM Cruwear chipping?

I don't get this automatic default to "burnt edges" . We know the sharpening is done in a way that prevents it. I'd really like to see some proof that Spyderco has burnt edges. Sure I know in theory it can be possible with some sharpening jobs somewhere. I've seen it on one new knife in m...

Re: CPM Cruwear chipping?

I've seen some nasty stuff embedded in low end paper that boxes are made of, and the starch that glues it all together is really hard and plenty capable of chipping an edge if it hits right. This does seem like something more due to a nasty wire edge fracturing off, I would not expect this from a cl...

Re: product idea: Spyderco folding wood saw

I'd buy a Spydersaw in a heartbeat, for the above-mentioned reason of cutting power to size/weight ratio. I did have a real need for one at my last job but these days it would be more for yard work. I'd probably put one in my EDC bag.

Good save.

The next collar might be better with the tag riveted to it instead of dangling.

Re: Spyderco Mashup

Sliverax without the flipper tab. Easy physical change to make, but it being a collaboration likely means it won't happen. At least this is one you could do yourself, or at least have someone do if you don't have the tools. I think I probably did the first one after having one for about 3 hours bef...

Re: ARK and La Griffe

I am not at all a self defense practitioner, but I do agree with the mentality of not liking finger holes because they'll probably break your finger. Maybe in the end that's an acceptable risk vs defending your life? I feel like when it really counts, few people will have the motor skills to even ge...

Re: Bring Back Spyderench!

I'm even more picky about multitools than I am about knives. So much so that I currently have 3 Leatherman that are about to get taken apart just so I can mix and match the tools to my liking. I'm not saying Spyderco aren't capable of making the perfect multitool, but I am saying the Spyderench wasn...

Re: DIY Swedge/False Edge on a Manix?

i'd be afraid to mess with perfection. "if it ain't broke, fix it until it is." Everyone should have a regrind version of their favorite knife. I wouldn't want them all this thin but they sure are fun to play with. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52783636593_cb1e293eb0_w.jpg I thought...

Re: Linerless Native 5 G10 - structural integrity question

1. I haven't had one of these apart but if it's like other knives, the washers are basically pinned between the scale or liner (or both on other knives) and the pivot bushing, and when the pivot is tightened I don't think the washers really move so they're not creating any friction on the G10, it's ...

Re: 15V Shaman!

The action is addicting, but for some reason when I close it the knife tab always smacks my finger, which is really annoying. It's a nice piece, but the design where it smacks your finger is a bit odd. Just practice taking your finger off the tab at the last second. The blade has enough mass to get...

Re: Spyderco Caribbean on Sale

I would preorder that version and I don’t preorder anything!!! I'm surprised anyone wants a back-lock on a knife that's flips as well as a PM2. Do you guys also want back-locks on the PM2!?! Crazy isn't it? Just wait until you hear that some people don't purchase knives based on how well they flick...
