Re: An ode to the death of H1

Regarding the release of MagnaCut by Spyderco one has to remember that they were dialing it in as a 'Salt' knife. It's somewhat likely they could have released it sooner in standard models, but I'll bet they wanted to know it's full potential as a Salt blade and then go from there in terms of planni...

The best thing I’ve heard from Sal in a while. :smlling-eyes

Magnacut doesn’t seem to have any downsides… would love to get PAC SALTS in this steel.

Re: An ode to the death of H1

I couldn’t find my kitchen shears the other day and needed to remove the backbone of a turkey so that I could cook it spatchcocked. No worries… grabbed my serrated PAC SALT (H1) and zipped right through both sides of the backbone in no time at all. I love the Spyderco PAC SALT (in both plain edge LC...

I'm sure you'll see more K390 in Golden after the expansion is finished. We've had some limited capacity issues of late.

And Magnacut too? :cheap-sunglasses

Re: We don't actually need to Magnacut *all* the knives

I reckon the market will decide how many knives we need to 'Magnacut'. I have not heard a negative about this steel yet. I am sure there are other steels that are better choices for some applications, but for the common everyday user who wants a knife that holds a decent edge (wear resistance), does...

Re: An underestimated and overlooked edc gem

Yep. Salt 2 has been my only EDC for a good number of years now. Prefer it to the Delica (lighter and simpler without liners). I prefer the FFG in LC200N… would be great to get it in MagnaCut maybe someday, but honestly, LC200N is just fine for most daily tasks.

Re: Magnacut or Bust Wishlist

If I can get a Pacific Salt in Magnacut I may just retire from the knife hobby. My sentiment exactly!! 1) Pac Salt in Magnacut (with yellow FRN and black FRN!! - choices!!) 2) Salt in Magnacut (with yellow FRN and black FRN!! - choices!!) 3) Strecth 2 Salt in Magnacut With these, I need nothing els...

Re: Laminated Cos vs 3g

I haven’t held the F1X or F1 Pro but they seem a little heavier duty than I need. Good to hear about Lam Cos. I look forward to the potential release of the regular F1 in Elmax.

(What I really want is a Waterway in Magnacut, we can dream, right?)

Re: Laminated Cos vs 3g

Thanks, Dan. That is a useful data point. I also read on BF that they are coming out with the F1 in Elmax next year. That might also help to explain the move.

Laminated Cos vs 3g

I haven’t had a lot of luck searching for comparisons on this. I see that Fallkniven is discontinuing 3g in the F1. I wonder why…and I am curious if it is because lam cos is better or cheaper to produce. Anyone with knowledge on this one? Thanks! (I posted this in BladeForums but also thought I’d po...

Pacific Salt -- the handle works better for me than the Pac Salt 2, plus I like the barrel bolt clip.
Me too. I still like the PAC Salt 2, but the first one ‘fit’ me better.

Re: Waterway in Magnacut?

Roger that... I suspect part of the hold-up (if there is one) regarding Magnacut is precisely what you just pointed out. They probably have significant stocks of steels like LC200N, S30V, etc. that they need to 'get through' before transitioning many models to Magnacut. (At least this theory seems l...

Yep… for me it’s a plain edge PacSalt. LC200N is fine, but hoping for Magnacut in the future.

The stretch 2 seems to be a natural choice. And this is exactly why we need a Salt Version of the Stretch 2 (in MagnaCut, please).

Mora Garberg or Kansbol. If it’s gotta be a Spyderco, then I vote for the Pacific Salt (the best Spyderco made, lol).

Re: models you'd like to see in the salt series

I'm somewhat hoping Magnacut replaces S35vn/s45vn as the default production steel regardless of the full salt treatment. that would be cool, but i'm not sure i see it happening now that it's been classified as a salt steel by spyderco. i don't think they'll offer it in non-salt designs. i agree it ...

Standard Stretch 2.
Yes. This. In Magnacut.

And of course, a PacSalt in Magnacut. With various color options.
