Re: Goo on the Edge - How to Manage

Seems I frequently have adhesive goo on the edges of the Spyders I carry and use. I usually try to wipe it away with isopropyl alcohol (or acetone if necessary) on a Kleenex, but have cut myself more than once doing that. There must be a better way to de-goo the edge. If there is, please share. Rat...

Re: Let’s face it Liner Locks and Back Locks suck!

I think back locks and liner locks are pretty great. Ambidextrous, strong and reliable. Funnily enough, the right-hand Military is probably the most lefty friendly liner lock ever. They work fine with gloves and can be closed well with poor fine motor skills. Compression locks are another story. I ...

Re: Let’s face it Liner Locks and Back Locks suck!

I don't really care. I just don't think we should consider blades dropping shut as a sign of quality. Blows my mind how many people get a new knife and the first comment they have is how happy they are that it drops shut, or complain that it doesn't. I've never understood why that matters so much. ...

I voted "Other", because I've found The One, but I haven't found The One Spyderco yet.

Re: How About A Newer Double-Bladed Spyderco Folder??

I could see a Dyad with Spy-DK style blades being a lot more comfortable to handle. That style knife seems more fitting as a slip joint anyway.

Re: Are there any models you liked the previous better than the current?

I'll never not prefer the Gen 3 Delicas and Enduras. All they ever needed was an adjustable pivot. None of this liner nonsense of the current models. One piece handles, no nooks and crannies to collect stuff inside the handle scales.

Okay, I'm in for this one.

There's something about it that reminds me of old school Spyderco, and I love that about it.

Re: Please remove MAP pricing forever!

Some people seem to be forgetting that MAP pricing only affects the advertised price. Dealers are free to charge as little as they want. Those of you who follow the "crazy deals" thread know that certain dealers frequently offer additional discounts. I think this is something that people ...

Re: Help with new Dragonfly

I'd say get either the regular blade shape or the wharncliffe in whatever steel you prefer. Personally I'd stay away from the hawkbill blade, as I've never found them all the useful.

Re: Value folders

The Astute that I owned had a level of fit and finish that was easily equal to anything put out by the Golden, Seki, or Taiwan factories. It blew my mind how well made that knife was for the price.

It's one of the few I sold off that I've been tempted to reacquire.

Re: Does your Spyderco knife passion depend on acquiring more?

Admittedly, I've lost my passion for Spyderco, but to be fair I've lost interest in what the majority of knife companies are peddling now. Just over a year ago I started looking at my actual needs and what features I liked in a knife and started selling off anything that didn't fit that criteria. Th...

Re: Magnacut Everywhere (else)...!

Yes, but a lot of people really want some Magnacut knives sitting in their safes apollo. ;) Maybe Sal can print up some stickers that say "Magnacut." Until the actual knives are released, the fanboys can stick the stickers over the S30V engravings so they can sleep better at night. Ooh..I...

Re: Magnacut Everywhere (else)...!

Magnacut / 15v / … it all does not really matter. Spydies are superior cutting tools in more then just the steel. I know i will not make myself popular on this one but have none of you die hard steel fans ever found out that spydies in s30v that some here call boring out perform so many “Supersteel...

I always enjoyed Lum's designs, especially with how he was able to implement the opening hole without a large hump in the blade for most of them.

That’s a butterfly. Not a spyder.

I believe it’s a 740.

Re: Obscure But Yet Extremely Cool Past Models

FRN Cricket. This completely changed the game for the Cricket, as it massively improved the knifes grip and made it faster to deploy, while still remaining quite compact. My #3 favorite Spyderco Design, and probably the most useful design for urban EDC tasks I encounter. I rate it as 'obscure' beca...
