Re: Carrying a knife in a "no knives" workplace.
Civil disobedience against laws or regulations that you consider against your personal moral code has a long history in the U.S. IMO, as long as you are not endangering others or pose an identifiable threat you have the obligation to live by your beliefs. Really, carrying a knife is part of anyone’...

Re: No love for CBBL?
The CBBL is by far the most ergonomic lock Spyderco has. I rarely use the thumb hole on my Manix 2, I just pull back on the lock and swing it open. Pull back and another swing to close. No other lock integrates with deployment like this that I’m aware of. And even if you’re not swing it closed it’s ...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
I got a Positron and a Domino. The Positron is somewhat of a gamble; reviews are mixed. But at $100 I'll take the risk. They main semi-negative review I’ve seen is from everydaycommentary.com (FANTASTIC review site if you haven’t seen it). The main complaints were the clip and the liner lock being ...

Re: Cardboard cutting; Steel vs. Geometry
At work I notice stockers zipping through fine cutting tasks and rough a like with a little box cutter... I have a hard time arguing a larger more expensive option in light of seeing real use examples like that and the maintainence most people just can't put into a knife to make it function like th...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
I was super disappointed when the Positron came out because of that year it was the one I was most interested in and it was retailing close to $200. So happy to see it disco'd so I could snag it for $100! I'm kind of a lazy knife nut, happy to collect off the tail of things rather than the leading e...

That looks way better. I think I’d send that one in the OP’s photos back. It’s not been ground properly.

Re: New Models Dropped: Shaman PE/SE, Hundred Pacer
Is it just me or is the bevel kind of uneven in that PE Shaman? Doesn’t look right to me towards where it meets the choil.

The serrations look like standard size to me. Am I missing something?DougC-3 wrote:By the way the large serrations on the Shaman SE look great! I think they'll be very handy on a heavy duty knife like this. I'm also looking forward to trying out the SE Caribbean.

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread
Great photos, thanks. Looks like a less blocky grip than the Manix 2. I’m a little unsure about the compression lock. I have long (for a guy) fingernails on my right hand for guitar playing. This can make some flippers just slightly awkward to deploy. If you didn’t flip your nails for a week or two ...

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread
Oh man, I was about all set to pull the trigger an a serrated PM2 and had no clue the Shaman had a serrated option. Choices, choices. I'm a big fan of the Manix 2, this looks nearly perfect.

Re: Why Get an Orange S90V Manix LW When I Already Have an S110V Manix LW?
you will probably never see an orange manix2 lw again I could do without ever seeing an orange handled anything :) Some people really get into collecting variations of knives. Nothing wrong with that but you've got to choose which model carefully. I'm sure the PM2 has financially ruined a few peopl...

For a small knife I like the Meerkat. The chunky handle goes a long way in big hands.
For a mid sized folder like the Native I'm a fan of ... the Native FRN :). Haven't gotten a 5 yet but probably should.

Actually some steels I think 250F is pretty close to the higher hardness temper temperature. From my notes 5160 at 62 Rc is tempered at 300F.

What on earth are you using a pocket knife on that is that hot? If it's hotter than a pie 10 minutes out of the oven you have the wrong tool in hand.

What is it like to sharpen SE S30v? There's a limit to how much time I care to spend on a sharpmaker.
Sharpened an AUS6 SE blade recently and couldn't believe how sharp it got so quickly.

Re: Old Spydie Police?
The scales on stainless handled Spydies are heat treated? How hard are they? They don't seem all that hard, I wouldn't have hesitated to drill and tap them if I wanted to. I don't have a Police in front of me but don't the clip holes sit over the blade? You need to be able to drill into a gap to dri...

Re: Your Favorite Short Bladed Spyderedged Model?
The Navigator with blue aluminum handle is one of the cooler small blades they ever made. Not the sturdiest knife though. Carrying my Navigator today... never heard anything about a lack of sturdiness before now. The blue handle finish wears easily. And the aluminum dings easily. I actually like al...
