HAP40, yes. Laminate, no.

Do you know of any knives in solid HAP40? Not sure if stock is available?

I think that this sounds like a terrible idea. It is an easy NO from me. Sorry.

What advantages do you find ZDP-189 has over HAP40?

Re: Who's for replacing ZDP-189 with HAP40 laminate in regular production?

For me, HAP40 is a truly premium steel with great fine edge retention, very good working edge retention, very good toughness AND ease of sharpening. I sold my ZDP-189 Stretch 1, replaced it with a HAP40, and am very pleased.

I am 100 percent for this. However, would you and I and others be confident that it would not easilly rust?

I’m not sure corrosion would be much more of an issue than it already is with ZDP-189. I suppose unwanted patina could be. That problem is easily solved by EDCi.

Re: Who wants a Spyderco "Sharpened Pry Bar"?

Isn't there a new fixed blade from Spyderco with a 4mm stock and FRN textured scales? Similar to scales you'd find on a Manix or Native LW? I believe it has various color options as well and I thought it was just the most original budget friendly idea to hit fixed blades in a while, not to mention ...

Re: Warehouse knife

Is that $124 (Canadian?) for the Manix 2 Lighweight BD1? If not, that might be a less expensive option.

This is one where I'd definitely want it in SE and a good steel to go with that.

VG-10 is a good steel for SE, that can be ground full flat. SE and FFG is a great combo, IMO. I’m thinking a Caribbean, with FFG LC200N, may be the ultimate in Spyder serrations, but at a much higher price.

Re: What slices better wharnecliffe delica or centofante 3

The Centofante has a little longer blade, with more edge length. This may be a factor? The blade stock is also 0.5 mm thinner.

Re: V-Toku2 Endura

I am really enjoying mine, especially after I swapped the stock clip for a blue MXG deep carry. I’m generally building my Spyderco collection as a “type” one. This means I'm TRYING to stick to only one example of each model that interests me. The V-Toku2 sprint is a fine representative of the Endura...

I'm wondering why I haven't seen any CCs of these on YouTube, or anywhere? That's usually the first sign of release.

People can, and will, complain about map pricing, but it does help keep the good dealers in business.

Re: Which se wharncliffe?

The FFG VG-10 will cut better, slice better, the H1 Salt will cut longer without needing to be sharpened. Both will keep cutting for a good long time, though. Personally, I’m looking forward to the Salt being released with a serrated FFG LC200N blade.

Re: Blending EDC with Self Defense

I live in a state (Vermont) where I have the freedom to carry a gun, legally, without a permit. One of the reasons I don't routinely carry is that when I do, I feel a heavy burden of responsibility. I don’t want to bear that burden, unless I’m facing a real, known threat. That weight isn’t there whe...

Re: Ikuchi

I didn't notice until recently that the blade thickness on the Ikuchi is 2.5 mm. A thin pointy blade shape with the edge length of a Stretch 1, and the blade thickness of a Delica! Makes me look forward to it even more.

Sliverax fixed blade?

I'm imagining my Sliverax as a fixed blade. Same handle, but with contoured scales. And a sheath set up for cross draw.

Re: Spyderco 2019 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

True. But the posts on this forum asking about when a knife would be released resulted in this new reveal policy. Actually, I doubt this forum had much to do with the change in policy. I highly suspect it was driven by dealers/distributors who had to handle all the inquiries/complaints about why a ...

Re: Your personal size categories?

I find the actual edge length to be the main determining factor for me. Under 3 inches edge length is a small knife. Definitely useful for some tasks and circumstances, but not as well suited to all around use. An edge length between 3 and 3 1/2 inches is what I'd call a medium knife, which I find u...
