I've seen a couple of websites recently where one or othe other of the Caly3 knives is stated to be "discontinued" or "limited availability."

Is this idle chat or is are these really on the endangered list?

There was no indication at all that posting in that first thread would reserve two knives for you. If something comes up that you are interested in, staying away for a few weeks is a pretty good ...

Man, if I were Taz or Sal (and I'm not, which is a good thing for all of us), I'd say to myself..."geez, all this did was stir up hard feeligs...no more of these forum knife ideas, please." I am sure they're cruising above that, but it would drive me slightly crazy.

I have probably spent thousands over the past 10-15 years on replacements, but nothing has ever taken their place and, though they look it after all the miles and hours, they are still part of my every, every EDC.

So what's the verdict on the backspacer? Looks like, ummm, synthetic engineering material to me but I haven't disassembled the knife.

So, here's another question. This isn't intended to dis this knife at all, just so that's clear. I'm wondering - the "button" or slider that withdraws the lock is plastic. If it were to break, I assume the knife would become inoperable. I wonder if we're going to read about breakage of thi...

I was actually surprised to notice that there is no fastner at that end. The Manix 2 appears to be held together principally by the pivot screw and the two screws at the pivot end. I'm sure it's secure enough, given the beefy liners, but I think I would have expected at least one more screw?

I got one today. Two reactions:

1. This is much bigger than I'd expected - I was thinking Delica/Caly3 size!

2. I'd always thought that the best F&F in a Spyderco was the Caly3. Wow, this one is fully the equal of the (remarkably nice) Caly3.
