Re: Price increases 2023?

Ya'll ghosts of forum past need to start some fresh threads re-reviewing and talking old models you like and why. I think it is worth while seeing some old models brought up for discussion. Why this? Is the search function in the forum not working? Well first you have to know what to search for. I ...

Re: Price increases 2023?

[...]it's especially frustrating when you want to buy a knife that's not been restocked for months and then the price goes up while you're waiting for it. Very good point - you can't even influence it in any way ... you can't even turn the tables and take just as long to pay. That said even if i ne...

Re: Old spyderco boxes

Here is an assortment of some of my hoarded boxes from Spyderco. I also like the style of their old boxes, especially the white ones with their imprint. The only negative point is that whenever I buy there is a knife inside ... :') https://i.imgur.com/NcylM51.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OeddwGT.jpg My a...

Re: What is the first Spyderco you'd replace?

Imagine all your Spydercos are stolen, or lost, or burned, or confiscated, whatever. They're gone. Which is the FIRST one you'd immediately replace? If all my spydies are gone I probably wouldn't replace them, none of them. Two main reasons: I would need a therapy that consumes a lot of money and i...

Re: Finally found my Grail Spydie!

Also JD the seller says this one is from 1997 is there anyway to check if that date is possible? The oldest catalog i found was 2007 and that one talks about the chinook 3 so i guess since the chinook 2 was in between them its possible? Congrats to your catch, apollo! What you show is a Chinook 1 (...

Re: Long Timers: How has this forum changed?

For the first few years after I joined the forums, there was a culture that I call the Circle of Friends, The Deacon was the quintessential leader. There was a kind of gold rush atmosphere, people were more interested in the design of the knives themselves than in the intricacies of metallurgy. Coop...

Re: Do you use your Spyderco or just collect them?

What distinguishes the lover of spydies more: Use a few knives wisely (let's say around 20 pieces) or pay tribute to the brand/designer/manufacturer and buy more and more for the sheer joy of the workpiece? At some point there just isn't enough time to use them all....that's my situation. So my shor...

I see the numbers and letters on the box, but I don't see a DATE?
Give us the two capital letters on the right side on the box-labeling and we let you know the production date.

Perhaps this image could be a mandala for knife collectors? Staring at it may not help you reach enlightenment, but it might just inspire you to buy more knives!

Re: Stainless Steel Native AUS-10

I only had one make it's way through my hands and that was over 15 years ago. They were pretty rare. 200-300 plain edge models at best. Are you sure about the numbers? I know that only the 2002 catalogs mentioned the native SS with plain edge, but unfortunately I have never heard any official figur...

Re: pocket serration sharpener

The 702 M/F profile stones have been standard in my EDC bag for years and have served me well in countless situations, even with serrated edges. The 702 were the 4 inch (outdoor)version of the longer 701 stones, unfortunately both are no longer made.

Now almost 24 hours have passed, enough time to analyze the new situation: I've found that 62 years of life doesn't really feel any different than 61 ... I'm happy with that.

Thank you friends, with your good wishes I look forward to the new year of life with confidence! :party-face
