All samples are encased in plastic and actually need to be the size of a spyderhole. The surface is at the surface of the plastic and is mirror polished and then etched.

bodycote does boron carbide coating

I found the cf on my caly3 to be a little more polished and have a bit more resin. The tmag is almost a brushed finish and I can kinda feel the texture of the carbon fiber; it has a woven "feel" to it rather than simply a "satin" texture like my caly3.

It really is a joy in hand.

So I recently picked up a tmag and I have to say that I think this is the best handle texture that Spyderco has had.

It's smooth enough not to be abrasive, but it feels like it grips very well in the hand and is fairly similar to micarta.

I really wish the calypso had the same finish

I actually picked up the two that were sitting around at a local outdoor/hunting store today.

Both were numbered in the low 900's(can't remember off the top of my head).

I was thinking about filling 2 or 3 holes with some JB weld and the drilling them out in a more friendly diameter so I can use some chicago screws.
