Re: Value folders
It is no secret what I think of this model. One of my top favorite from Spyderco. Some of the best ergos with edge right up to the handle. One of Sal's best. I was very impressed with the build quality on this one. Value Line? You bet. Sal once mentioned it was from one of the better maker's from C...

Re: Value folders
The value line is a very important block in the spyderco line up. Since not every person is willing to spend so much on a knife as us forum members. There for they are in away even more important to be as high quality as possible while keeping the price low. So that non knife people can see and fee...

Re: Value folders
No complaints about any of the Chinese made Spyderco/Byrd folders I've bought. Quite frankly, build quality seems very good and worthy of the Spyderco label. Serrated 8Cr13MoV performance is surprisingly very very good IMHO. In PE I do have an affinity for higher wear resistance, tho. In the curren...

Value folders
I’ve been on a buying streak over the last three months. In this time I have purchased two Value folders, Astute and UpTern, a Harrier2 in G10, and was gifted a Heinnie-Haines UKPK S30V drop point. After receiving the latest, the UpTern, it struck me that fit/finish, materials etc. were pretty much ...

I tend to stay in the background for the Forum Knife discussions but a SPY 27 UKPK really appeals to me.

Re: UpTern!!
This seems to be similar in size to the SpyDK. Which is one of my favourite slip-its.
The blade looks to avoid the broader tip of the Delica for a “splinter picker” tip, another thumbs up.
Plus the backlock.

The Chaparral through all its incarnations has stayed true to its purpose.
For this reason it is my choice.

Re: Delayed excitement about an early Lil’Temp
Wrdwrght, thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts on these models. It’s given me a different perspective on the Lil’ Temp series. And Sal thanks for the talkin’ story that fills in the background. The ‘Rhino’ incarnation has always caught my eye and has now caught my imagination. Hopefully...

Re: Now that Sal has mentioned that possibility: Chaparral FRN variants? (blade shape, color, steel...) - your proposals
Polished, fluted G10. Like the idea of UKPK/DKPK/Pingo ‘smooth’ frn with colours. Keep the XHP for continuity’s sake. Create a ‘new’ model Chappie for the modified blade versions with the option of different steels? But keep the 2mm thick blade. Maybe this could be the folding mule for steel, blade ...

Re: Byrd Wharncliffe
Thanks for the mini review Sonorum and the pic on the carry page. It’s a good looking knife. When I saw the response after you started the Wharncliffe thread I was hoping we would be successful, but to get all four models as PE and SE is fantastic. It shows how our voices are important to let Sal an...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
I have an Astute on the way. I’m not a huge fan of linerlock knives usually but the Polestar altered my perspective a little and the slimmer profile of the Astute just appeals to me. There’s a Harrier 2 in the parcel to keep it company. interested to see how the ‘softer’ scales feel in hand. I prefe...

Re: Which model has impacted your preferences the most?
The ClipiTool (C176) plain/serrated. I bought it ‘just to see’… :smlling-eyes It’s really had a profound effect on my knife choices. It focused me on how smaller blades can be useful in most situations and also introduced me to serrations. I now own several sub 3” knives and six serrated models. All...
