Re: The Memes Will Continue Until Maxamet Returns

I was just going through the 7 EDC folding knives on my desk. Flipping them all with both hands to make sure everything is copacetic. I get to the Native 5 in Maxamet, put it in to my right hand and try a thumb flip. Ohhhhh sheet! The pad on my thumb was vaporized like a military laser had hit it. W...

Re: Sprint Runs and the Abysmal Aftermarket.

As I've noted before I don't get in to many Sprint Runs. If I don't have 2 to 4 weeks to put some cash together they're gone before I can do anything abt it. I have a list of knives that I buy from, and when the 3rd of the month rolls around, I buy a few. Beyond that I cannot get in on anything, and...

Re: Maxamet and the future

But Rex 45 is the closest to Maxamet hardness Spyderco has come so far. https://photos.smugmug.com/Picture-a-Week/2018/08272018/i-62fkMNw/0/5ac9ecf9/L/Image1-L.jpg Anyways, all this geek stuff aside, PM2 Rex 45 and Maxamet "feel" the same to me. Cool to have knives that can cut steel cabl...

...Its in my top three favorite steels.
The other two being Cru-Wear (I'm guessing) and...?
Haha I like that.

But K390 needs some love too :D
Speaking of K390, has there ever been a Military in K390? I'd buy one.

Re: Sal: More fixed blades with 3-4 inch blades and Kraton and FRN handles?

I like the idea but I'd prefer an M390 plain edge for the knife steel. 2.5 (Chicago laws) to 3 (Illinois laws) inches is a target size for me due to Illinois knife laws. If it's under 2.5 or 3 inches and they feel like charging you - you get a misdemeanor, not a felony. Right now I have two Bradford...

I'd be looking to buy fewer in the future. I'm definitely in to the high end steels.

Re: Spyderco Shop Tour 1&2

I had never before seen this videos. I don't have a favorite knife company, because I love knives and the personalities that make them a reality, but Spyderco is in my top 5. I have more respect for Sal and his family every day. Sal is one **** of a man to take his dream and make it a reality. So ve...

Re: Nick's question of "why"?

I’ve been away for a while and missed this thread. Full disclosure, I didn’t read all responses, so, what I share may have already been addressed. I don’t know Nick, but he strikes me as a very active collector. I feel more like a collector than anything also. For me, I started loosing interest in ...

Re: Updated shaman sprint steel poll

Sal.......how about Carbon Fiber with M390?? That's Eric's leaning, CF with a super steel like S90V or S110V. It's up for discussion now. Though I must admit, having carried a Shaman quite a bit, I'd like one in Cruwear and brown canvas Micarta. :p sal I like Carbon Fiber with M390 as well.

Re: Spyderco custom shop

Thank you for the honorable mention! This is a means of getting a semi custom knife direct from the factory. You could also use this mechanism to fill orders for sprints because all that needs to be done is to temporarily add the SKU (item) to the list of steels or handles being offered. Once roboti...

Re: Ronin 2 in 204P

This isn't open for discussion. I buy what I buy for whatever reason, and so do you.

I just put an end to the entire argument. I'll live with 2 Bradford Guardian 3's in M390, AND 2 Yojimbos in 20CV. I ordered one more of ea, to make the pairs.

Yes I'd like to carry the best knife and knife steel for self defense.

Re: Ronin 2 in 204P

In the Winter with multiple clothing layers we really need the cutting performance that a premium steel 204P/M390/20CV offers due to the number of layers one must penetrate. Can I take on 5 guys wearing winter clothing in Chicago in December and not have to worry abt cutting performance that is far...

Re: Ronin 2 in 204P

Can I take on 5 guys wearing winter clothing in Chicago in December and not have to worry abt cutting performance that is far far far under 20CV? If I ever have to be in that situation (1 v 5, armed with a knife), my strategy is just "RUN AWAY!" I was boxed in...and I'm not one for runnin...

Re: Nick's question of "why"?

The custom shop idea is nice, but I can see why they don't do it that way. From a manufacturing perspective it's easier to set everything up, and then knock them all out at once. With so many models, they'd probably need another factory just to handle all the custom orders. That's just my speculati...
