Re: Best "work knives"?

I wish the Manix Backlock had removable scales. I've been considering trying to cut the (one, random) pin in mine to take it apart and build some more rounded scales. Has anyone done that? I took mine apart when I had one. The only pin I remember is the lockbar pivot. But you shouldn’t have to cut ...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

#1 is Maxamet. Stays sharp forever. #2 is M4. I really like how sharp I can get it. #3 is 52100. Same reason as M4, but M4 seems to stay sharper longer. Not much has changed for me either. Still my favorite 3. I will say that S45vn really impressed me. Along with AEB-L, for how easily they both sha...

Re: knives that deserve an upgrade

Deserving—as in needing—an upgrade? The Urban’s pivot. And maybe the weak detent on the Caribbean (CQI may have addressed this problem already). FYI-the pivot on the fluted CF Native is similar. D shaped pivot, but no metal reinforcement. And does round out. I learned the hard way. Oh, don’t say th...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Ooooohhh, a Manix in this color scheme would break my "no new knife" stretch! I'm going to choose against the swap I mentioned earlier. For some reason the Jade scales with a satin blade and hardware just doesn't do it for me the way the DLC with Jade does. JuPaul mentioned the Stag Arms ...

Re: Jeweler's Loupes & Magnifying devices?

That's an interesting looking optical tool for sure. But Panasonic is not what I consider a 3rd World cheapo. Anything I've ever owned with Panasonic's name on it has done well for me over the years. I'm going to check this optic tool out. The Japanese also make the Nikon optics which are great. A ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Wow, DLC really really looks good on those scales. I wish Spyderco would make use of that pattern more...maybe just smoothen it out a bit to prevent ripped pockets. We need more variances in scale design aside from the colors. :) ... I agree. I think we will see more of it. Love to see it on the Mi...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Nice swap!! Been hoping someone would swap the blade and hardware with those scales. Had a feeling it would look good, sure does! Thanks Rick! I think so too :D I would love to give a manix this treatment, even without the diamond arc. But I don’t think there has ever been even a forest green manix...

Re: Jeweler's Loupes & Magnifying devices?

I got a 2 pack cheapo deal on Amazon, I think theyre 30x and 60x? Have an LED to light up what I'm looking at and a little storage case. Work great for $12! Really helps me figure out what's going on with my edges if I'm having trouble getting a knife sharp. It is almost incredible what you can buy...

Funny you say that, because after seeing your pic I went and matched up my M4 para 3 with the KnifeWorks Para 3 since they are pretty similar in color. It's tempting!
Pics if you do!

Re: What do you want in a new Salt knife?

I’d love to see the salt line take an aim at the camper’s kitchen. I know there is a culinary line, but I would like to see the poly handled knives be offered in an upgraded LC200N package with a simple sheath included. The ultimate camp kitchen knifes.

My Watu’s bug is milled. Not as pretty and defined as some of my others. But definitely the “typical” Taichung bug. Best pic I can get somewhat focused:
