Re: Broken Z-Cut
If it was done in by Braunschweiger, there was something off and the tiny Spydie hole does not seem like the culprit so much as a bystander. Except that it broke at the hole, likely compounded or directly caused by the Spidey hole. I have cut much harder with mine with no issue, something is off (m...

Re: Does anyone use a S90V blade?
The ability to make something sharp is more a function of the user's skill than the material's ability to "take an edge" or get sharp. I can make 420J2 as sharp as I can make s90v, I don't attribute that to the steel. There's a YouTube video of Murray Carter shaving with a spoon.

I'd think a Kydex sheath on a carabiner would be a secure attachment for a vest that wouldn't be cumbersome.

Re: Spyderco Chaparral FRN backspacer upgrade
Titanium liners with frn backspacer would be cool :) wondering, how much weight that would reduce. And round end of handle a bit it para 3 style to make carry clip even deeper. Ad add tri-ad lock (if the patent is expired) :D sorry, fantasizing :winking-tongue Add a Triad lock to a Spydie?, hard pa...

Re: The Magnacut Paramilitary 2
At this point, Magnacut is riding such a powerful hype train that it literally doesn’t matter what model it’s in, it will sell. A Magnacut “this” or a Magnacut “that” is going to have buyers. I think Spyderco needs to be very calculated when it comes to marketing their Magnacut knives now that they...

Re: Spyderco Chaparral FRN backspacer upgrade
I have not seen any and I have never seen an aftermarket FRN backspacer for any model. That would likely need some pretty specialized equipment to produce. I don't think a CF or Al backspacer would significantly alter the balance on what is already pretty lightweight.

Re: Q-Ball resin printed ball cage
The naked BBL is the reason I never bought what was an otherwise attractive model. It is the one thing Spyderco does that seems to be more about looks than function. Cage 'em up please. I never carry the D'allara for this reason, which is a shame.

Detent ball for Paramilitary 2
Has anyone replaced theirs? If so, what did you use? What size am I looking for?
I've got a factory 2nd PM2 that has a flattened ball and I think it's responsible for drag while opening. I guess I should try a replacement...

Re: Corrosion Reports
I've found that a number of plants can be quite corrosive. Working outdoors I have been using my pocket knives like mini machetes to chop mostly invasive plants. Some can stain a stainless blade in minutes, part of the reason I like H1 as a work knife steel.

Jur reached out and offered to send me some Spyderco pins after reading a post I made a while back. He seemed like a class act. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Re: Cheap DIY Scales?
Unfortunately, there is not really a cheap way to make those scales. They require precision machining and expensive tools, hence the cost. I'd buy the knife and decide if you think you "need" different scales down the road. FRN is great stuff for a lot of reasons and you might be happy wit...

Re: Warranty woes
Super disappointing that this situation doesn't seem to be improving much. Customer service has been a hallmark for Spyderco and I never had a bad experience the few times I've needed their help. 5 weeks to respond to an email? That's totally unacceptable by any standards.
