Topic: Tools For Better Sharpening? Which Do You All like and Why?

Well, I've tried every sharpener I could find over the years. As I've grown older (I'm 75) I guess I've gotten lazier. So I find the sharpeners that require the most set up are used the least. I rarely re-profile so my Wicked Edge has not been used in years. I would probably opt for the Edge Pro any...

Well I have one, because everybody said you have to have one. But I never use it. If I wore gloves or was in the woods or the jungle I might carry it, but it is a bit large for what I call a utility knife. I always carry a Caly 3.5. If anyone remarks about how big it is, I tell them they should see ...

I guess if I want to sell some of the knives in the future or trade them, it is probably a good idea to keep the original boxes and as much of the warranty sheets as I can? I think you have answered your own question correctly. I don't have room or I would probably keep all mine. I haven't sold one...

Along with my Caly 3.5, I carry a Swiss Army Knife (Wenger) that has a nail clipper. As much as I love my Spyderco, I don't want to attempt fingernails with it.
Also, the Kershaw assisted opening Leek is a very handy knife for arthritic hands.

One more alternative to Microsoft, if your computing is mostly online, is the Chromebook. It is fast, fairly secure and inexpensive. I picked up one from Amazon for $200 and I love it. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Chromebook-11-6-Inch-Haswell-micro-architecture/dp/B00FNPD1VW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid...

The Southard is the only Spyderco that I didn't like the looks of but bought anyway. I did that because of a thread in this forum where so many guys that I respect rated it in their top three favorites. Many of them included the Caly 3.5 in their favorites. Since the Caly 3.5 has been my favorite ED...

The only Spyderco that I wish I had not gotten is the Nilakka. It just doesn't feel good in my hand. I keep it as a possible future project for a scale modification. The Junior is my second least favorite. Again, it doesn't feel right. I may gift it to some young person some day. I keep the Military...

If you go to the contest link, there is a button for Your Image labeled "Choose File." You can do that and the file name appears but there seems to be no way to preview the selected image. Is this correct? If you click "Submit", will the chosen image be submitted? I know that to ...

Just 1 this time. In the past I got 2 to take advantage of the free shipping. Then I would have one for the kitchen and one for the collection. Now the kitchen has settled down to using one ELMAX and one CTS B75P. I'm afraid the choices made by my wife were based on how pretty the scales are and hav...

I just got a Southard a few days ago. It has the fit and feel of a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan, except that it opens much, much easier. It is a beautiful piece of workmanship. That customization by Syncharmony is nothing short of fantastic! I still carry the Caly 3.5 but can't resist picking up the Southa...

Although I agree with mikerestivo's 1st ten points, I usually remove the Spyderco clip on any knife I carry so I can't say "I love the wire clip." I can add though, that the Caly 3.5 fits my hand more perfectly (both open and closed) than any other knife I have ever held. I never leave hom...

I keep a CRKT kiss assist Tanto on my desk all the time. With one flat side to the blade, I have it sharpened to about 15 degrees. It is AUS 4 but I don't use it much so it has remained razor sharp and very handy if I don't want to dig in my pocket. Another favorite CRKT is the 2900 HEIHO which I ha...

Always carrying the Caly 3.5. However, as I get older and the hands that I have enjoyed working with for 75 years have arthritis in the thumb joints, I will, sometimes, slip in my Kershaw assisted opening Leek (I'm sorry Sal). I understand that assisted opening may have some legal problems for a man...

My all time favorite of a gentleman's knife is the Des Horn. It can be used for anything like an exacto knife to whatever you need with slightly over 3 inches of cutting surface. I have carried it in my top shirt pocket. I have carried it in my inside pocket in a sports coat. It is one lean, mean cu...
