Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

BladeHQ hasn't gotten theirs yet - a day a go, someone on Instagram asked about them and their reply was when they get them, they'll go live - there's a sliver or hope

Re: Spyderco Junction

I know, old thread - but anyone have a spine shot? How thin are the handles and what alternatives are there in the current line up?

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

How do you sharpen that, even on a sharpmaker?
I'd be so nervous about blunting the tip!
The first time I opened a dodo, I got cut... Ordered one for a friend, flicked it open, and the tip got me...

St Nick's does an exclusive- gone in 4 minutes and lots of angry forumites - bbs does one, and charges a few bucks more and it sits for a bit... Those combo deals are actually a decent value

Pakkawood Endura feels premium- but you pay the price too
Pakkawood is also barely wood - it's pretty much "wood micarta"

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

How do you take damage out of a SE edge? (Are the corners on a cbn rod usable?) I bought, tried sharpening, and then sold a knife because I could not get rid of the rolled serrations.

Re: Unpopular Blade Steels That You Like?

BD1. It gets incredibly sharp effortlessly. Very high corrosion resistance. Edge holding is about even with VG10 for me. Works well at thin angles. Works well with both polished and toothy edges. Tough for a stainless. It's one of my favorite steels. I'd love to see more Spydercos in it. I know bd1...

Funny the zt0450 was brought up - I was considering it as a mantra 2 alternative before the price drop, but I didn't want to live with the thick grind

Re: Sal - Plans re: Mantra 4?

The mantra 2 blade is (to me) almost kinda Phil Wilson-ish

A lot of people didn't like how awkward the grind was on the mantra 3 (the almost recurve, which I think was there to clear the compression lock release)

Re: To M4 or not to M4...

Is 4v, rex45, k390 significantly harder to sharpen than m4? I'm guessing diamond stones are a necessity. Does maxamet work as an alternative to the above mentioned steels - more accessible without chasing Sprint runs

I've only touched up m4, and am more used to simple steels.

Re: To M4 or not to M4...

I know everyone is going nuts over rex45 because it ran 67 hrc - but what's stopping m4 from being run that high? Do the components that allow it to be a hot work steel allow it to achieve a higher hardness?
