I agree that terry cloth is probably not the best test of a SE blade, but like you said, you use what you've got at the time. I use my Sharpmaker for all of the combo edge blades that I have. I've never sharpened them on anything else since it does such a good job Sounds like you're on the right tra...

Locks wearing out ?

Whether it's an Axis lock or a lockback, if it's well made (which both BM and Spyderco are), then my grandchildren are the only ones that will have to worry about the locks on the knives I pass on to them. I have a small lockback Cold Steel that I bought in the late 80s or very early 90s and carried...

My Mini-Manix (belt pouch) & D4 (LF pocket) always go to work with me. They're here now. My wife carries a CF D3 in her purse that goes wherever she goes. When it comes back from being re-scaled with CF on Micarta, my Native will probably become my weekend EDC and take over when the Manix/D4 tea...

I'd like to see...

More G-10 and carbon fiber handles, more offerings in BG42 and ZDP 189 (especially in the 2.5 - 3.0 inch blades), and more nested partial liners in smaller knives (Native). I don't mind FRN for some of the lower cost user knives (Delica, Endura, Salt, etc.), but I don't like this material in a liner...

I take my D4 whether it's office, traveling, hiking, or whatever. It even goes to choir and church and clips inside my shirt just below the top of my choir robe for easy access. If anyone has a "question" about me pulling out the D4 for office use, I just pull out my 83mm Manix (which also...

Haunted by Delicas...

You took the words right outta my mouth! I've got a drawer full of $150-$300 stuff (and I keep buying them) that are the kind you take home to meet momma, but my $65 D4 is the one that I always want to go out with on Saturday night. I've had 3 D3s and 2 D4s and I've never found any job that I would ...

I like some weight because...

Someone has already mentioned this, but I'll second the fact that for me, at least, some weight acting as a counterbalance gives me more control over the cuts I make on some things. I also like some weight in the larger folders that I carry when hiking / camping. I don't carry a fixed blade at all f...

Hey, Bowie Man... My vote will always go for a lockback over anything else, even a ball-bearing or Axis-type lock. Call me old-fashioned and set in my ways, but I've carried and used folders almost exclusively for 50+ years and nothing beats a well made lockback (mid-spine preferrably) for a secure ...

I have 2 Delica 3's (well, my wife has one) and a Delica 4. I've never had any problem with the screws loosening in the D4, which is my EDC and gets fairly heavy use, and I've never had a problem with the pocket clip screws loosening with use or carry in any Spyderco. Personally, I like the D4 bette...
