I guess my attitude is, "if you have to pick just one, MagnaCut is that one."
But you don't.

Re: Sharpening/honing suggestions
One thing to be careful of when following the Sharpmaker instructions: it's possible to form a burr that is robust enough to stay on the knife even when you've pulled it through the hard plastic as Sal demonstrates. This burr will feel pretty sharp if you test it on the pad of your thumb, and will s...

Re: Will there be a MagnaCut backlash?
People who prioritize wear resistance will inevitably say, "meh. S30V is as low as I'll go on the CATRA ratings."
But a lot of people want their cutlery steels to check off all three boxes, and the numbers Larrin's published suggest that no steel does that as well.

Re: What's your favorite model to OPEN?
PM2. The geometry for middle-finger flicking is just flawless. To the point that it's not even a cool trick anymore, but a foolproof and swift way to open the knife. It's my favorite to close, too. If the ergos in use were as good as the open/close ergos, it would be tough for me to justify ever try...

Re: crucarta pm2 now shipping
I'm not buying this one, since I could just buy micarta scales for my existing CruWear PM2 if I really wanted it that bad. But my, it looks nice. And that color combination will take on just the right amount of discoloration over time spent in a pocket. In a few years it will look even better. Sal:...

Almost all of the designers of the Spydercos I like best already work for/with Spyderco.
But if there's a way to get an Enrique Pena project going, I'm in.

I don't understand why you'd want to buy a knife with CruWear and downgrade the steel, but it looks great!

Re: CTS BD1N Contoured PM2
Hey, All: Thanks for your keen eyes. The knife in question is an Exclusive that has been shipped to the dealer, but not officially publicly announced yet. Our graphic artist liked the photo I took of it and included it in the byte, but we failed to realize it was still unannounced. Out of respect f...

The RJ is actually one of the few knives where Spyderco's tendency to put shorter blades in a big handle just seems right to me.

Hard coating for aluminum
I have a DIY project that I'm working on that maybe y'all can help me with. It's not even a knife project, but you can just pretend that the aluminum parts I'm talking about are knife scales if it makes things seem more appropriate to the venue. ;) I have a set of headphones that I am going to rebui...

An orange Urban in G10 was my first Spydie, and I gave it to my brother in London, because he can carry it there. I guess I'm glad he has the knife, but man do I wish I still had another just like it.

Re: More Bolt-action locks please
I dunno. I like my Sage 3, but I'm overly cautious about getting it wet or too dirty because of the perceived difficulty of disassembling it for maintenance. "Disassembling for maintenance" is IMO something created by YouTube influencers as some kind of necessity, which is a pile of bull....

Re: Knife Joker GITD Jester 20CV!!
That knife proved to be surprisingly popular. Perhaps they will do another run one of these days? The forward jimping/index finger ergos take the usefulness of these little guys to the next level, imo. Initially, I felt the GITD was a little gimmicky and almost hesitated on buying one.. but I'm rea...

Re: Next Reveal Anticipation
So we got the first Reveal system because it was too hard to make predictions a year out, and the second because it was too hard to make predictions a quarter-year out. It shouldn't take much insight to predict what will happen to Reveal System 2.

Re: Only carrying one? Better count!
Over the summer I kept my EDC items in an elasticized runner's belt, because my new phone didn't fit the front pocket of my jeans correctly. Basically Batman's utility belt. So I always had my GITD Jester on a lanyard with a keychain light with me, even before I pulled on my pants. So it was almost ...

Re: Where are the Chaparral LW colors?
I think the Chaparral should stay the understated knife that it is. Any colors should be relatively subdued, IMHO. Like the colors of men's suits. EDIT: I just had the greatest idea! They could make a series of Chaparral versions in micarta that's made from various suit fabrics. It would be so cool ...
