And all this time, I thought it was the Unions in Jerzee who kept us from pumping our own gas...

Another vote for micarta. I've been in love with Micarta for a long time. It is warm, elegant, and has an almost organic feel to it. Royal blue or burgundy would be my color suggestion.

Thanks, Sal! Sign me up for both the sprint Jester and the ManBug!

I like my small "gentleman's" knifes thin and light for suit pockets. I carry a ladybug H1 and a baby Goddard frequently for this reason. I've just received a new Chicago CF, which I removed the clip on - it is a great little carrier. I've got a balance coming as well - and I agree with Ri...

Hey, Don! I bought the entire Goddard line back in '93 or so - when the first came out (Daddy C16, Junior C18, and Baby C20). It was the baby that sold me on the design. It takes "gentleman's" pocket knives to a whole new level. There is something about the lightness and smoothness of the ...

You know, this thread reminded me that in the late 80s, a lot of knife folks I hung out with considered Spyderco knives to be "gimmicky", "trendy", or simply "toys" - not REAL KNIVES like Buck or Case. It seemed to take several years - and introduction of a lot of groun...

Personally, I'm a Caly Jr. fan. The FRN handle pattern is a bit less utilitarian looking than the bidirectional on modern models - and makes the knife easier to pocket.

I also like the swedge and laminated blade. Good combo for me...

Tight micarta Wayne Goddards

I have two of the original Wayne Goddard micarta handled folders - the regular (C16) and the junior (C18). Over the years, they have become stiffer and stiffer to open, to the point that they are uncomfortable to open with one hand. I've lubed them to no avail. It seems like the micarta is creating ...

Guys, don't consider me a heretic or anything...but I've been carrying a Spyderco Solo So01 (plain edge, black micarta) as my EDC for years. It is with me almost every single day. It doesn't have a spydie-hole, but Sal considers the line to be Spyderco knives. For me, it is the perfect gentleman's k...

Question about old Sharpmaker

Hey, folks! I'm new to the forum, but a long time (early 90s) Spyderco user. Current collection is about 15 knives. I have a 15-year old sharpmaker - which came in the cordura pouch. The medium stone is showing a bit of wear, but the unit is in good shape. Along with some Spydie bench stones, it has...
