Manix 2 Blurple first impression
This is a starry-eyed comment, not a review. I love the appearance, color, and heft and the bank vault sound of opening and closing. Most of all I love the blade which was sharp out of the box with symmetrical bevels. It honed beautifully on the Sharpmaker at the 30° setting. I send my thanks to the...

"Bruce Mack and blueblur, try running the blade past your thumb nail or a plastic ballpoint pen with the edge trailing and firm pressure, look carefully for the apex to be bent by that, if it is, then I think we all may have created wire edge, instead of a burr when sharpening." No expert...

Re: V-TOKU 2 Love
I find that it does not hold a working edge. After a few uses the edge shreds cardboard or even paper with both push and pull cuts. This is after reprofiling to 15° and many passes on the Sharpmaker. This is my first Endura. I like the blade length but I will probably toss it if I can't "fix&qu...

factory grind
My Endura came with a factory grind too obtuse for the Sharpmaker at 30°. I reprofiled with the Lansky and got a more acute bevel to allow a nice secondary bevel at the Sharpmaker 30° setting. Might it be better for Spyderco to default to the more acute angle? Those who favor 40° can readily get tha...

PM2 s30v, my experience
I am new to knives. Of those I own, the PM2 with s30v blade feels the best in hand. After sharpening it to 15° per edge with the Sharpmaker, I have put it in its tray, using some good but non-Spyderco knives as my EDC. Frankly, hearing that s30v is perhaps long in the tooth, I didn't want to have th...

Re: Very DISAPPOINTED w/ laminated steel sprint runs
"How does it affect the performance?" Well, if the lamination line crosses into the edge and apex you have an open-faced sandwich, just one layer of cladding and one of V-Toku. The unsupported V-Toku is more susceptible to chipping. In fact, my Endura did develop a small chip when it firs...

Re: Endura V-Toku2/SUS310 laminated lines
Isn't life weird ? Mine is identical to that and I couldn't care less. [/quote] I was OK until I looked at it closely while sharpening and my personal CQI kicked in . On a scale of 10 it's 3, but I kept thinking of the other Spyderco knives I could have had - Chaparral, Native 5 lightweight, or...

Re: Endura V-Toku2/SUS310 laminated lines
My Endura lamination is not only wildly asymmetrical but on one side the lamination line runs into the edge about 3/16 " before the tip. This is unacceptable. I have sent it to Spyderco for replacement or credit.

Re: V-TOKU 2 Love
I noticed that the lamination lines are asymmetrical. Will this lead to chipping or other problems? https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipNGY-fAYK4vQpD-U5VVpA_MILqJGWpvlnxMHpcN https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipN7zO5Lxq8xGenZBrDjqAAw1qaJayCUgUw6LMS0 I'm sorry if these do not post. Sorry, no pictures. After my post, I went at more cardboard, some double thickness, with no further chipping.

Re: V-TOKU 2 Love
I got my Endura V-Toku today and sharpened it to 17° with the Lansky, then put a 20°microbevel on it using the Sharpmaker. It was (is) very sharp after stropping but chipped out about 3/4" behind the tip on its first encounter with cardboard. The repair was easy with a pair of 320 grit ruby rod...

Are you as good as your Sharpmaker?
I am a good amateur woodworker. As most edge tools in woodworking come as a "kit", ready to sharpen, I have learned many strategies to get a good edge quickly. I have settled on a CBN grind wheel for a hollow bevel. This leaves 2 points of registration on the bevel, which is enormously wid...

I want this and would have ordered it, but am waiting to see if I get the Delica Sprint run in VToku 2. One or the other will be my first Spyderco knife.

Re: Spyderco’s Tri-Angle Sharpmaker??
I recently purchased the Sharp maker. I even purchased the ultrafine rods and the diamond rods. I wish I never bought it I have buyers remorse. I only used it one time and I never even used the diamond rod. I have a set of DMT stones that I think are awesome. I use this simple plastic wedge to set ...

Re: Blown away by Sharpmaker
Yes. My other knife, a Kershaw Leek, has not taken the same edge with the Sharpmaker. I’m still working at it.Evil D wrote:It is indeed a capable sharpening tool, but I'd also give a little credit to the Opinel. Those knives are so thin and the steel takes an edge so easily. Amazing knives for the price.
