Depends on the design of the blade; how much distal taper, how much belly, how even the blade grind is, etc. Many knives get either thicker or thinner as the grind approaches the tip. Draw an imaginary line from the heel at the plunge grind to the tip and align the clamp along that imaginary line that will create the best average angle.

As much as i love Cruwear (i have the G10/Cruwear Stretch XL) I would advocate for Magnacut. Would make a very tough, stain resistant, easy to sharpen lightweight pocket sword. We have many models available in k390 and no longer blade models in MC. A Stretch XL in Magnacut would be such a Goldilocks...
