Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2019 Report

I keep going back to the pictures of the Endela and trying to work out what the overall blade shape/handle shape reminded me of.....it was nagging at me. Then it hit me: the Endela is basically a supersized Manbug- the blade shape and handle are the exact profile of that little marvel- but turned in...

Re: Interesting knife: "The Disciple".

It's interesting- definitely built for one very specific purpose.....I'd probably like one in my collection. Can't imagine EDCing it, as my EDCs are about pure utility not defence- I CAN imagine too easily whipping that out to cut a sandwich or cabletie then sawing at it like an idiot until I went &...

The Golden team have brought me to tears

So, over in off topic I celebrated our little miracle Georgina. https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=82858 As a result I had a couple of emails from the lovely, lovely folks in Golden including Tazkristi. A few weeks later, all the way across the Pond, I had a another little suprise. h...

Re: Kidney Stones?

Get well soon good sir. The good old British NHS has a great page on the "devil stones"- When reading everyone's advice above I'd take a look at the 'causes' and 'prevention' pages to draw your own conclusions: A couple of big things I'd point to are- 1. There are 4 different types of kidn...

Re: Consumer vs Industry Standards for Spyderco?

It's actually fairly easy to explain: Industrial standards are about measurable repeatability, provable perfomance and quality as a verifiable quantity- Quantifiable Consumer standards are about intangibles, how the product makes you feel and how desirable it is- Qualifiable Industrial standards are...

Mine is clipped to my Pjs as we speak. Really crisp half stop and full open that "snaps" into place with authority. The red is a classy deep crimson. Oh, and scary sharp out of the box. :)

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2019 Report

It's really nice to see all these pure classic Spyderco models this year in their next evolutions and iterations- and that 4" Native is a dream knife. While I have loved some of the collaboration models in the last few years, there's always something utterly delightful in holding a pure Sal or ...

Boker's Kwaiken model is made in Germany and has a VG10 blade-As are a number of their other folders.
I believe all the Kwaiken models are made in Taiwan.
Could be- but that's still not Japan either, so it's the same point....sort of....I think....

Re: This must change: VG10 and H1 to be used outside of Japan. What can Spyderco do?

Autos have to be made in America. Spyderco got in hot water with the spyderfly and szabofly. So they had to make the autonomy in the US. Maybe Sal can chime in the with how they actually do it. I know William Henry knives uses ZDP-189 so they must have some kind of agreement with the mill. So some ...

Re: This must change: VG10 and H1 to be used outside of Japan. What can Spyderco do?

CPM S30V replaced VG10 and LC200N replaced H1. It's time to move on and not wish for irrelevant steels. You monster! VG10- irrelevant!?- How dare you!.....The vilest heresy I've heard in a month! Such utterances will result in a visit from your local Commissar for 're-education' by being sent to cl...

Re: This must change: VG10 and H1 to be used outside of Japan. What can Spyderco do?

How this relates to Spyderco: I believe that Spyderco and other knife makers need to be able to produce H1 and VG10 steel or some rendition of it locally and domestically so as to make these wonderful blade materials more widely available to the global cutlery market. How can this travesty be chang...

That’s a better story but in my version you were more of a badass! Do you as a former auditor think that the audit trail in aerospace is useful and necessary? I work in a heavily regulated industry with tons of red tape. Sometimes the regulations seem a little much. 100٪ yes they do. They drive a t...

Re: G10 UKPK officially makes a return! Heinnie Haynes Exclusive

Seems to be a lot of frustrated people on the UK Spyderco Facebook page regarding this exclusive and HH. Apparently many people started boycotting HH due to their apparent price gouging. I hope HH prices this appropriately or this isn’t going to work. :o I'm one of those folks. 2 Years ago there wa...
